Yeah, I’m posting this on April Fool’s day, but I promise you this is very real. Uwe Boll, the man who beat the hell out of his critics in a boxing ring, has set his sights on a new target. If you’re familiar with Uwe Boll’s body of work you might remember he made a little film called “Rampage.” And while, yes we all know and love Uwe Boll’s “Rampage,” there’s a new film coming on the horizon with the same name and Uwe Boll is not having it.
Warner Bros. is set to release the movie adaptation of the classic arcade/home console game “Rampage” this year. The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson so it’ll either be the biggest movie of the year or a flop. Now, despite the fact the first “Rampage” game was released in 1986, Uwe Boll feels that Warner Bros is trying to cash-in on his film trilogy to help strengthen their branding. Yes, that’s right. He believes that Warner Bros is trying to springboard off of the success of his “Rampage” movies.
Here’s his full statement on the matter which goes from talking about big studios hurting to the little to a political statement in the blink of an eye:
We are living now in a world where Independent Movies are dead and the big players only are making all the money. That they then use developed brands and ideas from established series such as my Rampage films in order to make even more money is unfair but typical. The new RAMPAGE movie will shrink my brand and my revenues I can make in the future with my RAMPAGE movies. It also confuses the audience! I want that WARNERS change the title, especially because the new movie has nothing to do with a RAMPAGE and looks more like Jumanji 2 and is one of those typical feelgood, popcorn bullshit movies that the studios use to brainwash America even more! All these kind of movies including Transformers, Avengers are helping the military industrial complex in America to win and have retards like Trump be American President who would say that the earth is flat as soon they think they can benefit from this!
In conclusion Uwe Boll is a madman. But I can respect certain madmen.
