It looks like Martin Freeman is about to come out of nowhere and crush it in the world of horror this year. Later this month we’ll see the US release of his well received ghost film “Ghost Stories” and then in May we’ll get to see him deal with zombies in “Cargo.”
“Cargo” is based on the critically acclaimed short film of the same name and has been turned into a feature film to be released on Netflix on May 18th. The film is being directed by Ben Howling
and Yolanda Ramke who also directed and wrote the short. Here’s how Netflix describes it:
From the producer of The Babadook, and starring Martin Freeman, comes Cargo. Based on the viral short film, this is the story of a man and his infant daughter who are stranded in the middle of a zombie apocalypse in rural Australia. And when he becomes infected, the countdown begins for him to find her protection before he changes forever.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. If you’re curious to see what the short is all about, you can watch that as well. A lot of people consider the short to be an incredibly moving piece of work, so the feature film is gonna have a lot to live up too. Thankfully with the original creators at the helm and an actor like Martin Freeman spearheading it, it stands a good chance of meeting expectations.
