Okay, hear me out. I know you’re ready to throw bottles at me for even suggesting that you should check out a trailer for a (gasp) remake, but maybe you should check this one out?
The idea of remaking the 1977 classic horror film “Suspiria” sounds pretty daunting. Thankfully, Amazon Studios gathered together an impressive group of talented people to help bring it to life. For one, the film is being directed by Luca Guadagnino who has just come off his critically acclaimed film “Call Me By Your Name.” And it’s been written by David Kajganich who most recently worked on the AMC series “The Terror.” On top of that you have a solid cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Jessica Harper.
The trailer below seems to indicate that the film will have a very distinct look and feel that is reminiscent of the original film, but not copying its style. It gives me hope that this will be one of those remakes that will have its own identity and not just a carbon copy of the original.
In “Suspiria” . . .
a darkness builds at the center of a world-renowned dance company, its artistic director, a young American new to the troupe, and a grieving psychotherapist become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare. Suspiria arrives in theaters November 2. From director Luca Guadagnino. Starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Jessica Harper and Chloe Grace Moretz.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. “Suspiria” is set to hit theaters on November 2, 2018. Interesting strategy to release a horror movie right after Halloween, wonder if people will still be eager for one more scare or if fatigue will have set in by then.
