Patrick Wilson to Star in Adaptation of Stephen King and Joe Hill Story ‘In The Tall Grass’

If we were looking for a modern day male horror icon, I would think Patrick Wilson would have to be pretty high up on the list of potential choices.  Not only has starred in two high profile films (“The Conjuring” and “Insidious”) but he continues to do genre work with well received entries like “Bone Tomahawk” and “Nightmare Cinema.”  And now Wilson has a new horror movie in the works.

According to Deadline, Patrick Wilson has signed on to star in the Netflix adaptation of “In the Tall Grass.”  The original story was a short written by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill and is now being translated to your digital screen by director and writer Vincenzo Natali.

If you’ve never heard of Natali’s body of work, then you’ve been missing out. This is the guy who directed “Cube” and then went on to work on such shows as “Hannibal” and “Westworld.”  He even directed the recent fabled “Tremors” pilot that we’ll probably never see. Point is, he’s an accomplished director so seeing him get his hands on a Stephen King/Joe Hill work is exciting to say the least.

Here’s how Deadline describes the story:

After hearing a young boy’s cry for help, a sister and brother venture into a vast field of tall grass in Kansas but soon discover there may be no way out… and that something evil lurks within the tall grass.

No word on who Wilson will be playing, but he will be replacing James Marsden who was originally attached and had to leave due to scheduling conflicts.  The film will also star Laysla De Oliveira and Harrison Gilbertson.  Stay tuned for more details.
