Yeon Sang-ho is Working on a Sequel to ‘Train to Busan’

I don’t think anyone could’ve guessed that “Train to Busan” would’ve wound up being the horror hit that it was.  On the surface, you might just look at it and think “Oh it’s a movie about zombies on a train or something.” However, the film managed to be so much more and endeared itself to horror fans worldwide.

Now, according to Screen Daily, South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho is looking to return to the world of Busan and further explore the zombie fallout he created.  The director has announced that he is starting to write a script that will serve as a follow up to the 2016 film.  However, don’t expect it to be a direct sequel. Here’s what Sang-ho had to say to the site:

It is an extension of Train To Busan, after the virus has spread throughout Korea, but the characters are not the same. It shares the same world view and is a zombie action film that deals with the aftermath on the peninsula of what happened in Train To Busan.

No word on any details yet, as he is just starting the writing process, but Yeon plans on filming next year.  What do you think?  Interested in returning to the world of Busan with a whole new story? Let us know below.
