The future of Chucky and the Child’s Play series is looking a little crazy right now. For one there’s a Chucky TV series in the works along with sequels to the current movie series. On top of that, though, the original “Child’s Play” is getting a remake by MGM.
Well, we haven’t heard too much about the OG Chucky projects, but it looks like things might be progressing with the remake. According to Collider it looks like two actors are currently in talks for key roles. The site is reporting that Aubrey Plaza (“Legion”) is in talks to play the mother of one of the kids, presumably the one that gets their hands on the doll, while Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”) may be up for a role of a detective. Possibly similar to Chris Sarandon’s role in the original?
And the reason I sound so uncertain about who these actors are playing is that this remake of “Child’s Play” isn’t an exact copy of the original film. The new movie is said to center on a group of kids who come into contact with a hightech doll. One that probably has a tendency to kill I assume? There really isn’t a whole lot of info on this remake out there, so stay tuned for more.
