‘Goodnight Mommy’ to Get English-Language Remake

It feels like it’s been a minute since we’ve had a foreign horror movie get an English remake.  I’m struggling to think of what the last one was.  I guess the upcoming “Suspiria” remake technically counts?  The last one before that might’ve been “Martyrs”?  Someone post the answer below, you’ll win my unending respect.

Deadline is reporting that the Austrian horror flick “Goodnight Mommy” is getting an English-language remake by the producers of “It Follows.”  The remake isn’t expected to hit until late 2019, but the project has a director attached to it in the form of Matt Sobel.  Sobel last directed “Take Me to the River” in 2015. He’s also working on the script with Kyle Warren.

The original film centered on twins who come home to discover their mom’s face covered in bandages.  One of the twins; however, begins to suspect that the person wearing the bandages isn’t his mother after all. The original was directed by Veronika Franz and released back in 2015.
