Sadly I still haven’t gotten around to watching “Escape Room,” but by all accounts I hear it’s a surprisingly fun film. At this point it should be hitting VOD on soon, so I’ll definitely be checking it out. And while I didn’t see the movie, plenty of other people did as it did exceedingly well. As a result, we’re getting another one.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Columbia Pictures is moving forward with “Escape Room 2.” The studio is also wisely bringing back the film’s director Adam Robitel and writer Bragi F. Schut to spearhead the sequel.
The first film centered on the world’s most elaborate and dangerous escape room this side of the “Cube.” I imagine the sequel will center on a similar concept. Which, coming up with insane ideas of traps and escape room puzzles must be a really fun job.
Stay tuned for more information.
“Escape Room 2” is set to hit theaters on April 17, 2020.
