If you want to see some good Yakuza films, I fully recommend the following: The Dead or Alive Trilogy, Full Metal Yakuza, and Gozu.

Actually, before Takashi Miike began doing horror he was known for his Yakuza films which are awesome. Also, he has done some comedies and a musical.

I finally found a Takashi Miike film, and I immediately picked it up... and it turns out it's some sci-fi thing about a j-pop girl who gets hit by a truck and downloaded onto a laptop...

Who knew he did more than horror flicks?
