Thanks anyway! It's entirely possible I'm getting it confused with something else I read but I'm pretty sure the beginning at least had that creepy scarecrow.

Need help tracking down a title

When I was a kid I picked up this book and never finished it because it was too scary. It has something to do with a scarecrow that kills people and the main character was one of three brothers, I think. The book would likely have been published in either the 70s or early 80s.

Please, I must find out what book this is. It and I have some unfinished business.
