Also, when should we do this? I'm thinking over a weekend. If we come up with a day, we could do a poll and see who would be available.

EDIT: A quick look says vent servers are about 6usd  a month for 15 users.

i used to stream video from my  webcam to my work so i could see around the house during the day.

Did any of the victims get out while you were at work?  What did you lock them in?  What did you do for noise?

also i forgot to mention, if there is someone with better bandwidth than me, which should be most, VLC player has the capabilities to stream video may be another option.

For video chat, bandwidth would be a big problem for me, i suggested ventrilo for the voice chat option, i can get us a  server to use for that no problem, text chatting is an option but it feels so non personal, the idea was to have a more personal time than that, at least to me anyway. I'm up for trying any of them though.

Voice + typed chat shouldn't be too big a problem.  But I agree, voice really should be the minimum.

Ventrilo- ah, that's what you meant by 'vent' earlier.  Looks like a nice service.

By the way, thanks for stepping up with the help/suggestions.  I feel rather batty trying to figure this whole concept out.

Do we want a video chat?

Might be too much bandwidth if we have more than a few people, but would be fun to be able to wave my monkeys at you.  Voice could also be an option, less bandwidth.

Do we try to do something so we are streaming a movie so we are all watching it from the same source, at the same time?  Will this cut into our video conference?

There are films on YouTube that are available.  I don't think everyone has Netflix, so that streaming option is probably out.  I don't want to get into a copyright mess by uploading a film onto a website so everyone can view it.  As for streaming + video/voice, it's going to depend on each person's bandwidth into their house/cave.

This could be an easy option; pick a movie that is not too rare, give enough notice so people can rent/buy it.  With chat/voice/video someone says "start" and let the fun commence.  Say, take a scheduled break every 15, 20, 25 or so minutes so everyone knows when they can pause to do whatever they need to do for a few minutes.

We just chat (no video) about a movie we're watchin.  I'd opt out of this cuz it has nothing that I'm looking to to with other members of HM.

I wouldn't mind setting up, say, a weekly time for everyone to get together just to BS, but it loses that 'fest' feel I was/am/trying to do.
