Ash would probably win this fight.  His double barrel shotgun would take care of the first two ragers, and he'd chainsaw the third.

But therein lies a problem.

Chainsaws are messy.  Blood's really gonna fly, and as I mentioned before in this thread, Ash isn't exactly known for his defense.  He's going to tear into this third rager full hog and he's going to get smothered in blood and grue in the process.  And as we've seen many times in the Evil Dead series, that blood's going to get into his eyes and into his mouth. 

My take: Ash may be the victor, but in no way is he the winner.  This fight ends with Ash standing over the body of the final rager for a handful of seconds before he goes into spasms, the rage virus infecting his every cell.

Just to clafiry, folks, I'm completely unbiased in these fights.  Well, that's not entirely true -- I do have my favorites, but I don't post who I think would win or why so as to avoid swaying anyone's opinion. 

And I also want to clarify that I'm not endorsing the rage-infecteds.  I just wanted everyone to realize that given the rage-infecteds abilities and tendency to splatter their own blood all over hell and half of Georgia, this might not be so clear-cut a win for Ash, who has just as much a tendency to be splattered upon.

Heh.  It still cracks me up in the ED2 when the wall fire-hoses a stream of blood into his face, and what does he do?  He just stands there and lets it.

Was it ever determined if just casual exposure to the Rage was enough to transmit, as it (for my very faulty memory) was usually from bites?  I'm also kinda with Swollen in that Ash must have ingested every f'n bacteria & virus every and is one huge immunity factory.

(Still like the idea of Rage Ash, though.)

I've been giving this a bit of thought (probably a little bit too much lol).......here's my take on it -

The only two people to ever have shown any kind of immunity to the Rage virus are Dons' wife and son from '28 weeks'. Now they also shared the same rare eye condition (one blue, one brown) which suggest that this is a genetic immunity.

Seeing as how Ashes eyes are the same colour......i don't think he'll be lucky enough to be naturally immune to this virus.

Hm.  I'm wondering if anyone's taking into consideration the fact that Ash tends to get blood spewed in his face regularly in the ED flicks...

Ash will win this battle without a doubt.......but he is going to have to take extreme precautions not to become one of the infected himself.

His weapons (chainsaw and boomstick) tend to be on the 'messy' side.......splash back is going to be a problem for him. AS it's already been pointed out, if just one tiny drop of infected blood enters his
bloodstream......it's game over for him!

But Ash is resourceful and clever......he will emerge victorious!

Lon - Where did you get that still shot for the Three Infected poster?  Is that the beginning of 28 Weeks?  Just curious.

All it takes is the infected blood being introduced into one's system, in whatever way, and it's game over.
