As Lon and Fulci illustrated above, the #1 Rule on HM is Respect.  Think for 5 seconds what people would think if what you are typing was said to your 13 year old neighbor's kid.

HM is not your standard internet site; it is a community.  I haven't met any of these jokers in real life yet, but I would like to.  Even if it's just so I get to throw one of my monkeys at them.  (Minus the nuclear knife, of course)

Our admin wants a PG-13 website so that it appeals to the widest possible visitorship.  We mods are therefore tasked to ensure the content of the message boards meets that requirement.  If you want to talk about tits and ass and sex and get all raw and adult-like, there are myriad other horror websites where the members are allowed to run free.  But those websites also have FAR more trolls, haters and flame wars.  If that's the kind of board you're looking for, have at 'em. 

But here, members are expected to conduct themselves in the same manner as they would if they had a thirteen year old sitting next to them. 

You don't have to like it; you just have to do it.

Just don't go dropping f-bombs all over.  We're not saying you can't curse, but "I had some great chicken for dinner" is preferable to "I just ate the most fucking awesome shitastic chicken in my whole fucking life." 
Though the Drunk Thread is fairly hands off from the mods as long as you don't insult anyone.

Of course, to be insulting is just rude. But swearing is fairly meaningless.. It only acts to accentuate.. I find it offensive that swearing is considered taboo in the first place.. It's just pronouncing sounds or typing letters.. It's just another way for the status quo to control us.. fuck it all i say..
