You know the remake trend is getting outta hand when:Michael Bay snags the rights to The Exorcist with plans to direct it himself where the Priests tote bazookas that shoot exploding crucifixes, Regan spews highly explosive napalm and somewhere along...
ya know people are getting so sarcastic when writing about all of these unneeded remakes, and the content of the stories is so unbelievable that I sometimes don't know when it's a joke or for real Now honestly, this movie should be given to UWE BOLL, . . no questions asked, just drop it in his lap. . . Now THAT I would pay to see. . This generations Ed Wood actually doing Ed wood. . I can't believe that this is for real, . . I hope in some weird way that it becomes some monster hit, .. only so Ed can finally have his day in the sun.....this is still a bit of a mind fuck, . . I don't know what to think.
Ed Wood is a billion times better than Uwe Boll. I would fight anyone who compares them... *goes back to drinking heavily and crying over his Plan 9 from Outer Space poster*.
Why would anybody want to make Plan 9 a serious movie? I guess some director needs an ego push to make the remake better than the original which wouldn't take much doing anyways Don't mess with the original crap fest.
Jesus Christ, don't do that! I read the thread before the story and I thought Michael Bay was remaking the Exorcist. I almost ralphed all over my laptop
Legend has it that Ed's original script for Plan 9 was tampered with. As the story goes, he was at a friend's party stone drunk and being obnoxious. The friend decided to step outside for some air, then noticed the script in Ed's front seat. So he removed every other page from the script and buried them beneath a bush in his yard.
Who knows? Maybe Wood's original script was gold -- but we'll never know. Especially with Michael Fuckin' Bay directing.
I absolutely worship Ed Wood, but I have to say, "Why not?" I have everything Ed ever shot, including his last, unfinished film, and I'll own this one too. Normally, I'm against remakes, but this sounds more like a re-interpretation of the original, and that sound's interesting. As much as I love watching the original Plan 9, I DO think it would be cool to see ufo-controlled zombies running amok in a serious, modern fx film. I'm looking forward to this. i think it's a testament to the real brilliance of Edward D. Wood, Jr.
This really doesn't make sense to me....but hey I guess they'll try to do anything to avoid originality right? As for the comparison between Wood and Boll, its pretty accurate. Not in the sense of the quality of they're works' but in how they are looked at in the filmmaking industry.
Yeah, Zomboy, Ed Wood is one of my favorite non-horror movies. And Martin Landau was so perfect as Bela Lugosi. I have no idea what kind of person Lugosi was in real life, but any time I see him in a movie I can't help but hope he was the way Landau portrayed him. What a great, funny, touching little movie.

OK maybe that explains the script but it doesn't explain the acting... unless of course, the whole cast and crew were totally wasted during the shoot I'm starting to think the whole film was just a drunk party being filmed
This is B.S. I completely understand why Hollywood wants to remake this, just for the fact to have well known actors and actresses and also pile this movie with a crapload of special f/x. But you know what, they shouldn't touch this movie just for the sheer cheesy pure 50's style movie. How can you not love this movie. What's next? Remaking Ray Harryhausen movies?
You know cult movies dont usually happen on purpose. In fact a new movie that claims cult status usually doesn't and isn't. I love Ed Wood too and no one can intentionally make a film as good as this. So leave it the f.... alone! The only thing other than Ed Wood films was the Ed Wood film with Johnny Depp of which he did a fine rendition of this quirky man.
