Robert Downey Jr is currently filming Guy Ritchie's new Sherlock Holmes film, which is a take on the new comic that has Sherlock as more of a brawler than just master sleuth.

Well apparently during the filming of a fight scene, Downey Jr was knocked unconscious by Robert Maillet, a 7-foot tall former pro-wrestler who co-stars in the film. Maillet accidently connected with a massive hook on Downey's chin. Downey Jr was thrown into the air and and to the ground. He was reportedly out cold for several seconds and drooling blood before medics revived him. He required 6 stitches in the mouth to close a nasty cut caused by the punch.

This setback comes just days after a petrol tanker burst into flames on the set causing crew to run for cover and production to be shut down for several hours.

That an ex pro wrestler would "accidentally" connect on a hook.

Robert Downey Jr goes from the hard-drinking Tony Stark to the drug taking Holmes - Art imitating life, maybe?

I was quite excited about this at first but I can't see him as Holmes or Jude Law as Watson... I fear the worst...

^Dont forget his turn as an alcoholic newspaper writier in Zodiac. It was probably easy to research that role I'd say.

At first when i read the post i thought he was taken out of the film thinking he's fallen off the wagon.
