Your top 5 horror or true crime novels (Page 1 of 2)

I dont read much horror, but here are 5 i love in no particular order:

Devil's Disciple: The Deadly Dr. H.H. Holmes by Judy Miller Snavely
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge
Hell House by Richard Matheson
In a Dark Place by Ray Garton (out of print and hard to find.  Maybe you can get it from the library, thats where I got it from.  It wont disappoint though)

Jaws is way up there, top ten for sure, on my list of overall favs too RIP.

It would take me more than a few minutes to really get to the heart of top 5 - so I'll just name some quick favorites...

For true crime, I don't read much, but I did like Helter Skelter , Bugliosi and A Perfect Husband by Aphrodite Jones

^ Did you see the movie (Perfume)?  It's hard to imagine it working.

And what do you mean we agree on something?  Didn't you see on Facebook that we are movie "Soulmates?"  We matched up better than anyone else. 

The Hell House graphic novel came out recently - I'd rate it about a 6 out of 10.

Could you really class Weaveworld as horror? I'd classify it more as fantasy, excellent book though.
I'd swap silence of the lambs for the Hannibal omnibus, they are all excellent novels and I have to read them in order

Macho, I do because yes there is an element of horror. True it is fantasy but there are many moments in the story that verge to the more grotesque side of horror. So I class it as a horror-fantasy, make fun but I am a strange creature

Here are some really good vampire books. No romance, just horror.
Midnight Mass by F. Paul Wilson
13 Bullets and 99 Coffins by David Wellington
Stake and The Traveling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon
Blood Red by James A. Moore

The only good werewolf book I can remember reading is The Howling by Gary Brandner

I've heard good things about David Wellington's vampire series.  I dont know if there is an actual name in the series but the books (in order) are: 13 Bullets, 99 Coffins, and Vampire Zero.  Maybe give 13 Bullets a read and see if the series is worth reading the rest of. 

I havent read them but heard they are pretty decent.  He wrote Monster Island which I also hear is a good zombie novel.

Not yet they're a little tricky to get hold of in the UK for a reasonable price
But you've got to read his Monster Island trilogy it's outstanding and throws an interesting spin on the genre

The Keep was a great book. I didn't care for Michael Mann's film though.
