Hausu has got to be the most surreal horror film ever made. Sometimes you just have to leave it to the Japs to make this kind of bizarre shit and sit back and admire from afar. There isn't a single, solitary scene in that film that doesn't utilise some kind of filmic technique, be it a zoom, a dolly shot or an extreme close-up every scene is a show off. It's utterly batshit mental from start to finish. The piano eating the girl takes it to a higher plain than anything the West could even dream of! Hausu transcends convention and raises the bar by about ten feet. It goes above and beyond what we expect. Ah, Japan, where would we be without you?! Hausu - I salute you!
Okay, this one's more mainstram than 'Sledgehammer' lol!!! :
