Topic: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

So last night I finally got around to watching Friday the 13th the new remake and thought it was pretty good. Nothing amazing but much like those of you who reviewed it I agree that its worth seeing but not ground breaking.
The one thing that REALLY...

This was just one of the many crappy moments in this movie...of course you have to remember who is making this comment.:)

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I agree, this was completely unecessary.  Yeah, of course, the teen sex thing is vital to the formula for a serial killer's spree, but WTF?  I'm so much more comfortable watching total evisceration with my kid than when the stupid sex scene plays out, we're all pretending not to look at the screen.  Not that most parents watch fairly heavy horror with their kids, but I do, he's old enough, and he knows the blood and guts are fake, but the sex thing is just, I don't know, wierd.  Even my husband and I were looking at each other with the understanding of why get so down and dirty?  Kinda not cool, and again, unecessary, but that's just my opinion.  I guess it's just awkward, and for those on first dates, again, awkward!

i wil admit as hot as she is... i hit fast forward. The whole thing was a bit much....

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I agree. Sex and nudity in horror are fine when done right but sometimes its really not necessary. I like horror movies because theyre exciting and scary. If I want to watch porn, Ill fucking watch porn! Thats the reason I dislike Hostel as much as I do. The idea for the film was genius but 50% of the movie was porn whereas Hostel 2 actually had a plot and was entertaining.  I dont NEED sex and nudity to enjoy horror films but if done right, it doesnt bother me.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

you nailed it for me ron666.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I thought the sex element of the film was more graphic and more gratuitous than the violence - which is a bit friggin' stupid for a horror film.  I think the scene pretty much sums up Platinum Dunes for me. Mildly attractive man lies back and takes it a mildly attractive women gets her breasts out...oh and there might be a killer watching somewhere.  It's not only in the explicit sex - just look at how Nispel filmed Jessica Biel in TCM.  Just as unneccessary, IMO.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I thought that scene was funny lol I really enjoyed the remake, it was stupid but very fun.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

Nice t**s is an understatement!  She is smoking hot!! tongue:D
But, I would hardly call the scene pronographic.  Gratuitous and over done, yes, but I have seen far worse in the movies.  And since I have not seen the remake yet, I don't know the context of the scene.  But I have to wonder why the adversion to over the top nuditiy and sex in a movie and not to the violence and gore in it?  If it was a gratitous and over the top death scene that did not fit in the context of the movie would we hear the same complaints?

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

Death scenes are what most horror/slasher movies are about so no, you wouldnt hear the same complaints. Sex and nudity in a horror film is very different from horror in a horror film.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

Id be happier watching a scary, intelligently written, beautifully directed, PG-13 horror film than some cheap and poorly made R rated horror/porn flick.

Ah, but sex is one of the elements that sets a "Slasher" film apart from mainstream horror.  Teens have sex, teens are butchered.  It is an accepted cliche of the genre, just refer to Scream for validation.  So if you are going to remake an iconic "Slasher" film, you danm well better have some Tand A in it.
And my point was not to say that the scene in question "Needs" to be in the movie, but rather to point out how comical it is that people should have such a problem with sex and nudity, while so easily accepting violence.

I don't think it's a case of people objecting to the nudity so much as questioning the gratuitous graphicness  of the scene.
But as to your comical point

point out how comical it is that people should have such a problem with sex and nudity, while so easily accepting violence.

Would you be so accepting of violence in a porn film?
You expect violence in a horror film.
You expect sex in a porn film.
An occasional blending is also expected, but never gratuitously hmm

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I would have said Betsy Rue running about with her lady garden on show in the My Bloody Valentine remake was more gratuitous.  I can understand why watching it with your kids/parents might be mortifying but I wouldn't say it was pornographic, more that it's a bad example because the scene only lasts 90 seconds and that included the foreplay.  lol:lol:

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

90 SECONDS???
Including foreplay?????
Damn that guy has some staying power!!!!

There is. 28 Days Later for instance Zilla.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

Macho,

I don't think it's a case of people objecting to the nudity so much as questioning the gratuitous graphicness  of the scene.

It is a slasher film, and gratuitous nudity is part and parcel of the genre.  And the scene is not very graphic, I have seen much worse.

Would you be so accepting of violence in a porn film?

Have you seen porn lately?  A lot of it is pretty brutal and violent.  While I personally don't associate violence with sexual stimulation, aparently there are alot of people out there that do.  Just look at David Caradine.

You expect violence in a horror film.

Perhaps, but horror can exsist just as easily without violence.

You expect sex in a porn film.

It wouldn't be porn if it didn't have it, it would just be a bad movie.

An occasional blending is also expected, but never gratuitously

Why not?  If you can have gratuitous violence in a horror movie, then why not gratuitous nudity?

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

She said she wanted men, not flat chested girls with large clitorii and facial hair lol:lol::lol:

You either didn't read my post properly or are choosing to deliberately misinterpret it.
Either way I'm ending my discussion with you as I find your reference to Mr Carradine both distasteful and disrespectful to his memory.

Yeah, go figure.  The only time they allow movies to show the male genitalia is when they remove or mutilate it!

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

Full frontal male nudity?  No, if I'm gonna get the giggles, I'd rather it be from a joke, and not from some poor sod running around all flappy-like! lol

I felt that the full frontal nudity in the Halloween reboot was a bit much.  Especially since the character in question was supposed to be a teenage girl.  That kind of made me a bit uncomfortable.  It's one thing if the tart is "of age", but if she's supposed to be in high school, I don't care if she's supposed to be 18, it's just wierd.  These girls need to actually read the memo:  you don't need to get 'em out to get a career, unless you want your career to consist of you getting 'em out!  Sure they might not be able to act, but that hasn't stopped the rest of the big-time Hollywood folk!  Of course, if that's what they like to do, then more power to them.

Re: Julianna Guill's Sex Scene, Friday the 13th Remake

I saw this movie with my dad. Awkward...

I'm fine with nudity in horror films, but c'mon, in the "FT13" remake, it was too much. It's like Platinum Dunes just said, "well, there's nudity in the old FT13 movies, let's just make half the film gratuitous sex!" I mean, god, it's a slasher not a sexploitation flick.
