Topic: Horror Magazine Collection Advice

Hi everyone. I have an extensive collection of Horror film mags that i built up  over many years which i no longer add to as i have the internet to find out about films ( most notably on this site with the greatest most knowledgeable fans on the planet). i have well over a thousand sitting in my attic and i know they would be useful to collectors as i used to be a regular at filmfairs, marts etc. the mags range from the 1950's to a year or so ago and there are so many different i have, have not logged them yet, and this would take ages but to be honest i need to top up my second bank account for rainy days and this is a good way to do it, and it would please the wife because they take up a hell of a lot of room! Sorry if it's a silly question but what would be the best way to go about this? the number of specialist businesses that used to buy collections seems to have gone down, and i'm not really keen to sell on E bay because there are loads on there and prices seem a bit low . i know i have some rare stuff. sorry if this has rambled .some of the mags i have are:
Fangoria, Midnight Marquee, Monsters from the vault, gorezone, cinefantastique, femme fatales, imagi movies, hammer house of horror, famous monsters of filmland, cult movies, scarlet street, filmfax, darkside, samhain, video watchdog, videoooze, psychotronic, in the flesh, flesh and blood, delirious, absurd, blood and black lace, is it uncut?, fantasynopsis, starburst, starlog,empire, total films, hotdog, fear, european trash cinema, x files, demonoid, little shoppe of horrors, and many many more. thanks for listening guys.

Have you considered Amazon?
You could even set up your own site and sell them on there.

Horror conventions could you get a stall ? specialist that are out of town maybe  auction house might do specialist sale's try phoning them . And tell everyone what you have younever know a friend of a friend and all that . Just a few suggestions  sweetie loves ya  xxxxmmmmmmmmmwwwwwwwwwhah<<<< now can I get walked please ? >>>>

thanks puppy. i have thought of getting a stall at a convention, and just looking for other suggestions as well. love ya too  rubs belly, strokes ears, (throws stick)  fetch girl ! who's a good girl? you are!!!! mwahhhhhhhh hugs xx

conventions could possibly get you the most return for the small investment - if mags are anything like records this is often the case and not as taxing as setting up something online.

Make me an offer. I'm still trying to replace a load of mags I lost due to flood a couple years back. Oh wait, you're in England. Drats. Then just do what people suggested above. Set up the amazon site. Chances are I'll end up buying some off you there anyways. If you choose to ship to Canada.

as bank holiday weekend have been up in the attic sorting through and cataloging a lot of my magazines making good progress but still plenty of work to be done haven't even started on the Fangorias yet!:/

Do you have that issue of famous monsters of filmland that has a pic of a womans head on a silver platter? I think it would be around 66 or 67 or so. I use to have that issue and its long gone for some reason and I need to see it again LOL

That sucks. I wish I could remember the cover picture then I would be able to find it. I stole that issue from a variety store back then when I was 9 or 10 and I still remember that decapitated head pic tongue

If you sell at a convention, just do your research first on individual prices because I am sure some are very rare and could be worth a lot and you dont want to get hosed.

thanks JMH. have done that, and only about half way through my collection it's going to take time, but thank you it's appreciatted:)

It's a collaborative and interactive portal with features for magazine collectors to track their collections and share information about different issues.
It has a marketplace (still starting), that could serve as your portal to sell magazine issues.
