Fred recommends: The Club Dumas by Arturo Perez-Reverte

All fans of 'The Ninth Gate' should read this book which spawned the movie. Often when one reads a good book one is disappointed by the movie. Not here. Having read the book I was immediately hooked when the movie was announced. The movie was pared down from the subplots in the book and , in this case, that was a wise decision. So often movies get bogged down when trying to bring all the information from a book and have to resort to 'narration' etc.
However the book has much more to offer plotwise and in subtext and I suggest if you lked the film or simply a good horror-detective read. Buy it.
