Topic: Favourite (Mainstream) Movie of 2009?

This doesn't definitively have to be your absolute favourite since there are still some months until 2010 is upon us.

But from what you have seen of this year is there a mainstream movie of '09 that you have liked above all the others? If so which one?

For me, the one that stands out so far is: Moon, really took me aback in a wonderful way and the performances were fantastic. Def. my favourite of '09 so far.

well quite surprisingly for me and it was close but i had a blast with G.I. Joe it was just harmless fun i mean there was the romance betweeen scarlett and rip and the conflict between duke, the baroness and rex and lots of explosionsfor me it was a great film. zombieland was up there as well and i hope after this wednesday that i can add ninja assassin to my list.

The only one that wasn't horror that I saw was Transformers 2, so I guess it would have to be that.

I haven't seen a lot of non-horror flicks from '09, (and there's still a few that I really want to see but I haven't yet) but from the ones I have seen, I really liked Taken, I Love You Man, Adventureland and (not really mainstream but still really good) Anvil! The Story of Anvil.

As much as I loved Gran Torino, Watchmen and Taken, I have to go with Up for my favorite this year. It was just too much fun and the "silent movie" sequence showing their life together was way more touching than I had ever expected from a movie primarily aimed at kids.

Ben, I agree with that scene.  I expected some campy kids movie and I would almost put Up in the drama section.

I agree Fred, it hasn't been a good year and I struggled to find something that stood out for me. Only watching Moon reaffirmed my belief that movies still can get you by the heartstrings. Certainly worth watching in my opinion smile
