Re: YOUR Top 10 Cheesy Horror Films
Remaking my list. Here's the new and improved one (In no order): 1 - Return of the Living Dead (my favorite) 2 - Friday The 13th Part 6 3 - The Blob (1958 original) 4 - Maximum Overdrive 5 - Frogs 6 - Happy Birthday To Me 7 - Undertaker And His Pals 8 - Dracula A.D. 1972 9 - Tales From The Crypt 10 - Zombi 3
 ~~~ I still have yet to see Killer Clowns From Outer Space, I Spit On Your Grave, or Zombi 2 though! EDIT - I made this list when I was 16 and dumb. Gotta remake it again.
Additions- Bad Taste Dead Alive
Re: YOUR Top 10 Cheesy Horror Films
I don't usually seek out 'cheesy movies' to watch as I usually, outside of Grindhouse/Exploitation flicks or comedy like Dead Snow aim to find movies with a certain degree of critical appraisal. The Stuff however is a great cheesy horror film ive seen recently. Gonna watch Pieces now aswell.
Hmm, I wouldn't call I Spit On Your Grave or Return of the Living Dead cheesy. Sure there is some bad acting in them, but I wouldn't call them cheeseball films.
I agree, actually. Like I said in my 'edit' on that post, I wrote it a year back when I was still getting my grips on the horror genre. I have a more heavy understanding of 'Good ol' cheesebal' now.
Re: YOUR Top 10 Cheesy Horror Films
As i said before don't usually seek out 'cheesy movies' to watch as I usually, outside of Grindhouse/Exploitation flicks or comedy like Dead Snow aim to find movies with a certain degree of critical appraisal/serious tone. The Stuff however is a great cheesy horror film ive seen recently. I have watched Pieces aswell however last night and i am eager to watch more. What was it about the 80's that produced so many awesome cheesy movies?
Re: YOUR Top 10 Cheesy Horror Films
^^ The 80s were a special time- look at all the cheesy music/one hit wonders, the cheesy hair (men and women), the clothing fashion, the vocabulary. And, of course, the movies. It was a confluence of many demented Outer Gods exerting their influence on the Earth that decade. There is no other explanation for it, except for aliens; and come to think of it, there were a lot of alien abduction/anal probing stories that came out back then, too. Makes you wonder if aliens probe Outer Gods?
Re: YOUR Top 10 Cheesy Horror Films
can someone answer my question and i'm sorry if it seems a stupid one but what exactly is meant by " Cheesey" movie? i have an idea but need to know the qualifications and i'll put a list up. the suggestions that have been put on here so far are very diverse. i thought it meant cheap and cheerful but a lot of those mentioned aren't cheap.
I think of it as films that are low budget, bad FX, terrible dialogue, and terrible acting. But for some reason you still like it. They can be new also....Chillerama was definitely cheesy. Pretty much everything from Troma counts too.
