The Cabin In The Woods - 9/10

A very funny, well executed horror film with one wacky turn after another! I really dug it. Great movie.

Taxidermia (2006). Perhaps not an horror film. It certainly dwells on some unpleasant things. Great music by Amon Tobin.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Didn't like it.

My move list from yesterday:

Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)
Best of the evening. Like pretty much every tale.

From Beyond the Grave (1974)
Was ok, but nothing more.

Tales from the Crypt (1972)
It was good, but I stoppe it, because I thought I had already seen it.

The House That Dripped Blood (1971)
Same here, already seen it.

Campfire Tales (1997)
This one was ok, had some funny characters. I watched the full movie, but I'm still not sure if I had already seen it. Well now I certainly have tongue

Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight.  It had been at least a decade since I'd last seen it, and wanted to refresh myself as I planned to include it for my next installment of Ten Horror Films Which Deserve More Attention.  Holds up well and is a lot of fun.

I remember seeing that on a movie channel waaaaaay back in the late 70s, when I was just a little dork.  The birthing scene and Bo Derek getting her leg bitten off are about the only things I remember from it.  Oh, and I remember thinking the arctic/frozen ocean scenery was really pretty. lol  I'm long overdue for a second viewing.

Yes, "The Mist" is one of the very best "monster"-driven movies of all time.  A classic both of horror, and sci-fi (albeit more so the former).

Yes, "Sinister" is one of the best horror movies to come out in years (way better than "Insidious").  An instant classic.

You should give it another viewing. It doesn't fall into the typical "Nature Strikes Back" category.

Snow Beast (2011) 5/10

Call me a part pooper but I loved the ending to this film. It was so horribly and tragically realistic. A disney film this aint. Reminded me of Eden Lake (2005) in its bleak but realistic ending.

Put it on my watchlist. At the top.

Amityville 1+2
Almost a tie between those two, but I think I like the classic structure of 1 better. Both definitely good.

I thought the movie itself was kind of "been there, done that" but I LOVED the ending.  There aren't many big-budget, mainstream horror flicks with the balls to end on a complete downer but this one not only takes the cake, it swallows the fucker whole.  And we can thank director Frank Darabont for that; the ending is why he wanted to make the film, and IIRC he even threatened to walk if the studio tried to change it.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Vasquez, yeah, definitely bleak. Also like 30 Days Of Night and Descent kinda bleakness.

DARK CORNERS [2006] rewatch

One of the weirdest Horror stories I've seen. And man Thora Birch is phenomenal in this. I also enjoy the images a whole damn lot. A really beaitifully shot one. And boy so many twists and turns that are always surprising even after seeing it lotsa times.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

kXN did you know Thora's mom was a pornstar

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Had a lot of time to watch films latley which is unusual but great!

Martin (1976) - Really gritty, sleazy vampire flick from horror master George A. Romero. 7/10

Play Misty for Me (1971) - Directorial debut of Clint Eastwood and it deliveries. Creepy, well acted and sharply written. 8/10

Don't look Now (1973) - Slow burn horror at it's finest, the acting it great and the atmosphere is creepy and surreal. With top notch cinematography and a terrifying ending. 8.5/10

The Other (1972) - An alright film with a great twist. Overall fun little horror flick thats worth atleast one watch. 6/10

The Exorcist (1973) What can I say that hasn't been said before? A classic film 10/10

Piranha (1978) - A fun pop corn flick by cult director Joe Dante, really cheesy and alot fun. 7/10

The Omen (1976) - Great use of suspense, errie atmosphere and great acting. 9/10
