A good film from my N.1 horror director Mario Bava. Along with The Girl Who Knew Too Much and the Telephone segment in Black Sabbath this was an important piece in the development of the Italian giallo film.

Last film I watched was the Ozploitation film Dead End Drive In. Not the greatest exploitation you will see but still it delivers the goods one would expect from the genre - boobs, sex and violence - with some colourful and distinct visuals.

I would describe it as a cross between Mad Max and Hardware (1990). Overall a 6/10.

Oh Mad Max and Hardware are great so I bet I'll like it a lot. Gonna check it out. Thanks, never heard of it before. smile

TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWN PART 2 [2012] rewatch

One of my favorites of the series. Damn I dig Edward and Bella's daughter. She insanely freaking BADASS as mad.

But man, Dakota Fanning is just extremely EVIL as in every Twilight done. And cute. Talking about cute damn Ashley Greene is just beyond words cute. So is MyAnna Buring.

Very fun story, acting and visuals. Yup I dig Twilight, so what??? tongue

Just realised I got Blood and Lace mixed up with Blood and Black Lace.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Yea...I looked it up on youtube to see if it was posted (just watched full movie Alice Sweet Alice on it) but only found trailer and a few highlights. Never watched Blood and Black Lace but yes, two different movies...Blood and Lace is a low budget American film. I see you can buy the DVD on Amazon so I may just get it to relive my childhood a little. I saw on television in the early 70s when I was about 8 or 9 years old .  I'm sure it must have been edited alot for T.V.

The Gorgon (1964)

Often overlooked, this is a decent good-looking film, with an excellent atmosphere.

Considering such a low-budget production,  It's rather successful.

As usual Lee and Cushing put a bit of class into the genre.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Last film I watched, Black Candles (1982) was more softcore porn than horror from director José Ramón Larraz (perhaps more famous for his 1974 erotic vampire film Vampyres) to be honest but that aint no bad thing. For an actress pushing 50 Helga Line is a very sexy woman and the main female isn't bad either. Gets pretty deviant and weird in places though.

6/10.

I loved the backdrop of religion...that amps up the emotions. The mask and bright yellow raincoat was great !...... Not sure what to make of the obese guy.... interesting addition...reminded me of something out of a John Waters film.  The little  girls were great (maybe the best acting of the cast). I had heard about it and was happy to see  I could watch it on youtube. I like it for it's weirdness and shocking slashing  scenes. Acting was pretty bad, but thats part of the fun of watching B movies.

DARK SHADOWS [2012] rewatch

Third time watching it and I still can't believe I didn't like it much the first time. roll

But H3LL the ones after I did, Burton, man, he's just AMAZING.
Depp is brilliant like always but Eva Green is just wild as mad so is Michelle Pfeiffer. But the best is Chloe Grace Moretz, damn the girl is hot and good. smile

Extremely funny little film full of amazing scenes and spectacular photography.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Gonna go pick that up next time I'm out. ^

I had a whole thing typed up about Bava and needing to see this flick, blah, blah, blah. Then looked it up on IMDB and realized it was a completely different movie tongue

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Maniac Cop (1988) - 8.5/10

I really enjoyed watching this. I had no idea what a treat I was in for upon taking this up as a sort of assignment for Lon's latest thread. Maniac Cop is a very cool slasher film, with an original/interesting plot, a great cast (TOM ATKINS and BRUCE CAMPBELL, 'nuff said!), and a very memorable villain. One scene in particular which I thought was incredibly well done...the flash back scene into Cordell's history, as he is thrown into prison and faces all of the criminals that he originally worked throughout his career to put away...the way this was shot, and the soundtrack put to the scene, was nearly chilling. Effective scene, to say the least (IMO).

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

I just finished watching The Curse of the Werewolf. It was a pretty damn good movie. I think something that keeps werewolf movies fresh, though maybe less frequent, is that it doesn't have a specific source material like Dracula or Frankenstein. Werewolf of London is different than the Wolfman, which is in turn also different from The Curse of the Werewolf. Unfortunately my disc skipped in the beginning with the peasant so I probably missed a couple minutes, apparently it's a known problem with the Universal Hammer Horror boxset. Nonetheless this was a stellar movie. It's more sexually charged than it's predecessors, a sign of the changing times. It's still very much a tragic romance, like it's predecessors, and this film works wonderfully, the final cut is especially fantastic. The transformation scene is subdued and there is less werewolf action than in others, but the finale is pretty action packed. Where it lacks in gore in makes up for in story and characters. Overall a very good movie, one of the better Hammer movies.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

That's another thing I love about werewolf films, so many set up an amazingly dark setting without relying on gore and massive violence.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Some can be pretty gory, but you're right they don't need to be. Horror in all doesn't need to be that gory, but sometimes it's just satisfying.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

True, but if I want gore I'll watch modern zombies and torture porn and crap like Final Destination, which some "insides", for such a high budget film, look 'bout as real as those in low budget films like Blood Feast, tongue
