Re: Last horror movie you watched?

The film that Az forced me into watching last night (Windigo) actually damaged me in some way that I'm not even sure there's a name for. Oh my gosh. I can sum it up very quickly, using an actual quote from the film: "Several hours pass during which nothing of note occurs."

That was a serious quote from this bag of rhymes with kite, and it should be its official tag line. The single most boring film I have ever had the misfortune to see. It wasn't so bad it was good, like Woodchipper or Shaitani Dracula, it was so boring I cried blood. Literally nothing happened for 90 minutes. 0/10

@HQ
Grab your favourites, pop them into your DVD/Bluray player and cleanse yourself. Always works when crap floods my senses. smile

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

I might treat myself to The Devil's Rejects to cleanse myself! I bloody need something good, I don't think I can watch any more bad films until the new year now, or I may just implode

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Devil's Rejects is big_smile

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

I thought I had seen Windigo and didn't remember it being that bad, but then realized it was Wendigo.  Dam you and your horrible movies Az...now I will have to check it out, just like Shaitani Dracula.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Azzie, HQ and I just finished watching Tenebre over Skype.  A good time was had by all, I do believe.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Ok...after Az and HQ's review (and because I'm a nerd) I had to watch Windigo.  I made it through the entire thing!  I feel bad cuz it seems like the people that made it tried hard, and they actually want people to buy it to get extras on the DVD.  So I'll just say...the last ten minutes things actually do happen.  Not necessarily good things, just things, but at least something happened.

The rest of it...I don't know.  I don't even understand what they were doing there and what was going on.  It was truly painful.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

GHOSTY - NOOOOOOO! Please, please do not watch this movie. I assure you, it is not so bad it is good, or even amusing like Shaitani Dracula. It is just the single most boring piece of film making that ever existed. You will regret it!

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

I'm so sorry dude.  We tried to warn everyone.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

HQ - I did already.  That was my last post!  You are right, it was not like Shaitani Dracula.  However...with all you two wrote about it, I had to see it for myself.  smile

At this rate you'll become like me- looking for the worst movies you can find. It's a lonely road to tread, and angels don't come near from fear, but man, you can have have your head exploded with some of the stuff.  Not like Windigo, that was just boring, but some of the crazier stuff out there, like Winterbeast.

Riding the Bullet (2004) - 9.5/10
Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) - 4.5/10

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Backwoods Bloodbath (2007)
Low budget backwoods slasher about friends traveling through the back country and being hunted by a local  legend. It took me multiple sittings just to finish it over the course of TWO WEEKS! Not really atrocious, but it lost credibility (what?) when they mentioned that the HUMANOID ENTITY LAYS EGGS. LAYS EGGS. AN EVIL SPIRIT LAYS EGGS. Gore was just gloopy blood being flung towards the wall but I'll take that. 3/10

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Well, we all left Skype with a major case of the sleepies.  I laid down and to my surprise ended up staring at the ceiling for an hour.  Too tired to sleep, I guess.  At any rate, spurred on by having watched Tenebrae with Azzie and HQ on Skype, I watched three straight Dario Argento flicks:

Four Flies on Grey Velvet
Deep Red
Trauma

And I'm still exhausted, but can't fall asleep.  Thinking I might go with Inferno now.

Ouch. Well any movie that follows the paths of certain successful films (Scream, Saw, Hostel, Paranormal Activity) will immediately be seen as inferior (IKWYDLS, Captivity, Devil Inside). I think Hostel receives too much hate. I understand it was being hyped as "The most brutal movie experience ever" and people felt ripped off as it wasn't violently graphic until the second act. I like it though and your post tells me you didn't but that's fine.

I didn't like because I felt the violence was over hyped, I didn't like it for its generic college characters and poor direction etc. (e.g typical scenes of sex and annoying techo music). Indeed I felt that it attempts to rely on its explicit concept for its overall appeal and its other elements are just not developed or remotely interesting or deep enough. It's a pure concept movie to me - Torture Porn perfectly describes it. I dont like it for the impression that it gives the mainstream of the horror genre, which is not helped by its juvenile and arrogant director, Eli Roth. Don't get me wrong though I do like lots of exploitation movies like Hobo With A Shotgun but the difference is that they are very well made and directed.

@Punk- Yep I saw that one, and I also liked it.  Had a freaky edge to it.
