Topic: Best Sequles In Horror

Rarely in movies are sequles better than the originals, espically in horror in which the sequles are just the originals re-done. Don't get me wrong, I live for horror movies and their "crappy" sequles! What are sequles that you think surpass or are atleast up to par with the originals??

In horror?
Maybe 'Friday the 13th part 2.'
'Evil Dead 2', depending on your take of the horror/comedy balance.
Some people like 'Dawn of the Dead' better than 'NotLD.'
I like 'Hellraiser 2' better than the first.
Also with 'Phantasm 2.'
Sadly, 'House of the Dead 2' (as bad as it was) was better than the 1st.
'Aliens' vs. 'Alien' is realy a toss-up for me.

That's about I'll I can think of off the top of my head.  I'm sure some of the smarter folks will come up with some good ones.

[edit- I was only looking at direct sequels, i.e. the 2nd movies, not things like F13th #4 and such.]

Yeah I like Dawn of the Dead better than Night of the Living Dead too. I hated Evil Dead 2, it was just to silly for me. Aliens is a GREAT sequal, but it was more of an action flick rather than horror, the first one has a very scary, dark, clastrophobic feel. I also thought that Child's Play 2 was better than the first.

I think Day of the Dead is better than Dawn ands Night
Aliens, of course
then people will say Scream 4 is better than 2 and 3
Bride of Frankenstein is one aswell
I think Wrong turn 2 is better 1
Some people like TCM 2 better than 1
Hostel 2 is better than 1(though thats not saying much)

Also most of the Hammer sequels are just as good as the originals....
Dracula  Series,  frankenstein Series, etc...

Return of the Evil Dead is better than Tombs of the Blind Dead.

I also prefer Dawn of the Dead to Night... & agree about Hellraiser 2, as far as TCM 2 i don't think it was better just a different kind of movie but i'd say that TCM 3 was better than 2.

What about Halloween 2, i don't know if i'd say it was better than the original but they go together as one big movie for me.

Some others i think are as good as the originals:

Final Destination 2
Critters 2
Psycho 2
Sleepaway Camp 2
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3

I agree, i thought that the 5th was the most consistently good one since part 2 & a great way to tie everything together.

Since the OP specified sequels that were beter than the original I'll stick to those.

Hostel 2
Cabin Fever 2
Piranha 3D (if you consider it a sequel)
Blade Trinity was my favorite of the series
I think that REC2 was at least on par with REC

I always thought Dawn of the Dead was a sequel, it's probably the greatest in horror history if you consider it as a sequel. Indirect of course.
