Watched Fiend Without A Face on Saturday Wolfie, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely has some of the most odd b movie creatures I have seen!. Thx for the great list. If the rest of films u mention are as good as FWAF then I will be quite happy.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Looking through my collection, these are some that haven't been mentioned yet:

The Giant Gila Monster (1959)
The Bat ('59)
The Phantom From 19,000 Leagues ('56)
The Screaming Skull ('58)
Indestructible Man ('56)
Attack of the Giant Leeches ('59)

Edit - Oh, and you can't forget The Blob ('58 w/ Steve McQueen).

er bassi. neithier Frogs (1972) or Kingdom Of The Spiders (1977) are from the 1950's. that's why they have not been mentioned.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Let's make sure we stick to the 50s and to the B (or C) grade.  My choices:  SCREAMING SKULL,  RETURN OF DRACULA,  DEVIL'S PARTNER,  IT-THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE,  CULT OF THE COBRA,  ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS,  DAY THE WORLD ENDED,  TEENAGE CAVEMAN,  NOT OF THiIS EARTH,  THE LEECH WOMAN,  BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Sorry, but CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and HOUSE OF WAX were released as As.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Oh, I meant to mention IT CONQUERED THE WORLD,  SHE CREATURE and THE UNDEAD as well.

definitely Invasion of the Body Snatchers. one of my favorites

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

How did I forget CRAWLING EYE,  I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE , the original WASP WOMAN, THE TORMENTED and BEAST FROM THE HAUNTED CAVE?

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Oh yeah-KILLER SHREWS, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS,  CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, possibly (but I'm not sure) SPACE CHILDREN and THE VAMPIRE.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

I used to have a really high disdain for 50's sci-fi flicks, but somehow I got into a huge jag a few years back and watched a ton of them and now I totally love them.  I guess I disliked them because it was more sci-fi, and not enough horror. BUt it made sense for the time. Nuclear power, and the space program were really new to the world, and there needed to be a way to explore the pitfalls and concerns about these new technologies.

And as much as I love them, they're very formulaic. They all have a "love story" that's crowbarred into the movie even if it has nothing to do with the story. But enough of my whining and introspection, here are my fav's:

- Invasion of the BOdy Snatchers
- Them!
- It! The Terror from Beyond Space
- The Thing from Another World
- Plan 9 from Outer Space
- Tarantula
- It Conquered the World
- The First Man Into Space
- 4D Man
- Leech Woman
- The Mole People
- Fiend Without a Face
- The Creature Movies
- The Alligator People
- Attack of the Puppet People

There are probably more, but this is all I could think of at the moment.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Plan 9. My favorite from that time. Ed Wood RULES!!!

But Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman, The Blob, The Strange World Of Planet X and a brillant one, The Lost Planet are mad and cool ones...

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Shit! How could I forget The BLob? I was just talking about it this morning! Definitely on the list! Along with I Bury the Living and Curse of The Demon, but I'm not sure if those two qualify.

Re: 50's B- Movie Horror/Sci-Fi – Best of The Best

Why don't those two qualify??  -----I wish to add one that few horror buffs even LIKE-CURSE OF THE UNDEAD as well as probably TARGET EARTH.  I'm not positive about TARGET EARTH as I haven't seen it since my early teens.  Don't know for sure how I'd react to it today.
