Re: Year in Review *2012*

Oh man, impressive. I haven't seen ANY horror films in 2012.
I really gotta get back on the wagon and watch Cabin in the Woods and Prometheus, especially.
John Dies At The End only gets a 6/10? Dang. I was hoping that flick was going to be some bad assery. hmm Ah well, I'll still be giving it a looksie.

Thats what I was expecting also, It was very different, but not without being quite weird at the same time, it was okay bit I wasn't super impressed by it. Definitely check it out though, a lot of folks reallh liked it apparently.

Was The Possession any good?

Re: Year in Review *2012*

^^^ Opinions vary.  I liked it quite a bit, myself.  Strong performances (I thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan was particularly impressive),  slow-build, deliberately paced.  Has a kind of The Exorcist-vibe in the second half, but it's well-made and very interesting, I thought.  Unlike a lot of modern horror it doesn't spell everything out right up front.  You need patience, but I think the movie rewards you for it.

Re: Year in Review *2012*

The thing I feel about all them exorcist-type movies is, you see one, you basically seen them all. They just don't grab me anymore. After the stupid (amount of) sequels The Exorcist spawned, I'm just fed up with them at this point. And to add to that, the ones that have released over the past few years, haven't even been all that good.

I thought it was decent, I was probably generous giving it a 7/10...ultimately I felt it really offered nothing very knew to possession type horror movies.

Nice list Chainsaw!  Glad you liked Entrance, that was one of my favorites from this last year.
