Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

Some need to be edited off (could do at the end then fill in the blanks) but good list so far. Kind of stretching it at times because I don't really think there are 100 "great" slashers. But what do I know; I've only seen a fraction of 'em!

Ah, stupid thing cut my post.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

I hear ya, slashers, for me, are somewhere near the bottom when it comes to horror movies.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

Slashers are 90% of the populations gateway drug. First they see a crappy slasher movie then they seek out more. If a crappy slasher just rescues 1 person each then with the amount that are spouted out yearly, we could get a whole loada horror fans big_smile

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

It's actually what kept me away from horror for years. All the Friday the 13th sequels and Halloween sequels, it's all I knew of horror as a really young kid. And they sucked, generally speaking. I'm glad I found other films like NotLD, Nosferatu, and Suspiria, or I may never have delved deeper into the genre.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

It's why I said 90% tongue For me slashers were my gateway drug and most people I know say the same. For other's it was zombie movies.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

Yeah a lot of people getting into the genre recently through zombie and vampire flicks.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

My mate did it the total wrong way round she got into horror through the extreme side with Antichrist and THC2! I borrowed her Cabin in the woods and she turned it off during the scene with the family coming out of the ground! The next time I borrowed her Martyrs big_smile

Honestly, since this is DG's list, I'd just as soon leave it for her to call.  If she wants 'em off, I can go back and delete entries and fix the count.  But let's see what she has to say first. smile

Thanks Lon.   Wow!  You guys have been busy tonight.  I think the majority rules and if we all agree to take them off then that's fine with me.

Remember this list is going on imdb so lots of people will reference it.  It's probably best to keep it only slashers.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

There you have it, folks.  So let's go with Theli's proposed vote.  I've edited in a poll for the sake of expediency, which I've set to run for 2 days.  I figure that should be plenty enough time for folks to vote.

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

While we're at it, I don't know that I Saw The Devil really belongs on a list of Slasher movies.  It is a great movie, but I think it is more of a crime/revenge flick.

Yeah, also Deep Red, Tenebrae and Opera don't quite fit either imo.

93. Just Before Dawn

Re: 100 Greatest Slashers of all time.

^^^ It was discussed throughout the thread and folks think there are enough similarities between gialli and slashers that they should be included.

PS -- Just Before Dawn's already on the list. lol
