Re: Favorite Comic Books

Looks damn cool! The art on that second picture is fantastic.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Concrete!  Man, I haven't seen one of those since the mid-90s.  Always thought that was a cool book.

Speaking of more obscure stuff, I was way into lesser known/alternative comics back in the 90s.  I have several issues of stuff like Scud: The Disposable Assassin, Fun with Milk & Cheese, Sludge and several others.  I'll have to flip through my long boxes to see what else I have but I know I've got a bunch of stuff that isn't around anymore.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

I have some random comics in my boxes, The Maxx, Too Much Coffee Man, Shadowhawk. The sort of unfortunate thing is when I was a kid, my friends, my brother and I used to all buy comics, and often couldn't really buy them all with our allowances. So I would have a few in a run, and they would have a few in the run, so rarely would I have full runs of comics. Though we did trade comics a bunch too.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

I've got a couple issues of The Maxx (I also have the MTV animated series on my external drive).  When I was a kid back in the 70s and 80s, my mom would give me a dollar a day to take to school to buy a soda for the walk back home; instead I'd stop and buy a bag of chips at the grocery store for 35 cents, then pick up a comic book with the change.  I got most of the John Byrne run on Fantastic Four that way. lol

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been getting some major buzz lately.  Apparently Marvel is so damned pleased with it they already offered the directors, the Russo brothers, the next Cap movie -- and it hasn't even been green-lit yet!  So yep, I'm super-duper psyched for this one.  It's gonna be bad -- wait for it -- ass.  Bad-ass!

Speaking of comic books...

A while back I mentioned my daughter's been on me to make her a comic book of a joke character I made up back in middle school called Super-Turd (see my avatar).  Here are a couple character sketches I made for it:

Wipe-Out, the Toilet Paper Man

Super-Turd

And on the off-chance it need be said, Wipe-Out, The Toilet Paper Man and Super-Turd © Lonnie Turner II.  Don't even think of stealing my shit.  Almost literally.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

^^
Dude, those could totally get distribution!
Every see 'Johnny the Homicidal Maniac'?  Made less sense than your stuff and the artwork was not as good.

I will pay you $1 to have a monkey in the background of one panel.  Evicerating is optional.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Woah freaking awesome style you have there my friend. And I agree with azathoth apart from what he says about Johnny, the drawing are not less good, just different. tongue

But wow about Captain America, that's über cool. big_smile

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Funny thing is my daughter said it'd be awesome if I made that comic book and everybody loved it and I made a lot of money from it.  My response was I'd rather go down in history as a good screenwriter than the guy who made a turd in a cape, but in hindsight, at this point I'll take what I can get. lol

Hahahaha, maybe you can write the screenplay when the movie rights are sold big_smile

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Big heads at cinema companies should hire you right away because you can do the storyboards too. They'd save money. Bastards have no idea really... They miss quite something. YOU!!! big_smile

Not sure if your familiar with. J. Scott Campbell. This looks like his art though? Amazing comic book artist, especially drawing sexy women.

* Or maybe this guy: Michael Turner.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

I've got a couple Tank Girl issues.  And while we're on the subject of bad-ass comic book women, I was a fan of the Dark Horse comic "Ghost" back in the day...

Got a few of them. Not enough, gotta grab them all...

Re: Favorite Comic Books

Adam Hughes draws the best women in the biz, IMO.  Most comics artists draw them with either impossible dimensions or like skinny men, but Hughes has the female form down pat.

Re: Favorite Comic Books

My absolute favorite Marvel character is getting a new series in March: MOON KNIGHT!  And to top it off, it's going to be written by Warren Ellis.  Fuck. Yeah.

Also as far as other books, this is currently one of the best books on the market.  Fraction has been killing it lately.
