Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

It's not horror but I absolutely loved the opening title sequence to Watchmen, which rewrote history to show the involvement of superheroes during key moments in American history.  Done in exquisite slow motion and backed by Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are a-Changin'."  Just a beautiful credit sequence.

Good choice. I have often seen people saying this was the best part of the film.

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

I love the intro to the original Scream. It was a very gusty move to kill off your most popular actress within the first ten (or so) minutes. Plus, it was a quick glimpse of the awesomeness to come later on, and introduced Ghostface in the best way possible.

I'll also throw in the original Halloween because of the awesome long pan around the house. Plus, the build-up to the killing and stuff.

Both real awesome.

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

Good topic Vas and I'm with you all the way on TCM having an extremely foreboding intro sequence which paves the way for the relentless onslaught that film is about to unleash.

One that stands out (and the first one that leapt to mind) is this stunning introduction from Candyma, there's just something about the stillness of the camera as it swoops over downtown Chicago with the pseudo classical score that really stuck with me to this day. I've still never seen such an unflinching aerial shot as this:

Good call. I love the opening score to that flick.

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

I always loved Suspiria's intro scene.

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

I knew someone would beat me to it, and more than one did - Scream.  Amazing and probably the best.

I'll add another - Blade.

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

The one that stands out to me is Jaws.  The girl swimming in the water alone before Jaws shows up with the music... dun dun   dun dun

Re: Your favourite opening sequences/credits/scenes

Ooooh thanks for bringing that one back up DirtyGirl.
Cool one Vasquez.

Mine is definitely Ghost Rider's. Flaming road and a Chopper Bike front wheel. What more can you ask for??? A Shark and a girl with 2 notes music Dun, dun, dun, dun... Yes that too. lol
