Topic: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

I post enough about these suckers, so I'm giving them their own thread.  I'll put up the weekly new crapfest and perhaps ruminate upon the repeats.

And feel free to post your favorite titles (try to beat movie #2 below).

9/14/2013 (or 14/09/2013 for Punk) is... wait, it doesn't even have an IMDB page?  Dang.
You'll have to suffer with the SyFy link.

And following that is a repeat of Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.
It must have been so bad that I wiped it from my memory since Vampy actually reminded me that it had both Debby Gibson & Tiffany in it (no, Lon, they don't sing in the film).

Cool poster though (relatively)-

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Someone needs put a stop to sy-fy original movies. It angers me to know some jerk has the chance to create a something great and all they do is come out with cr@p. God I wish I had gone into tjat field. Maybe it's not to late.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

I'll be honest I liked SS DoomTrooper.

Honestly the same could be said for Hollywood.

^^
Good call Hellzy, Hollywood gave us Battlefield Earth.-

SyFy gave us, um, this...

OK, back to something not so weird, SS Doomtrooper (2006).

And for some reason this came up when searching for "SS Doomtrooper."  So much for 'not so weird'.

Werd.

I can't say I've ever watched a SyFy original.  Not my cup of tea.  But as Hellie said, Hollywood does the same thing.  If Hollywood -- or, to get back to the point, SyFy -- insists on making these "crap" movies, it's only because there exists an audience for them.  And if that audience enjoys the stuff SyFy is pumping out, then it's only natural SyFy would want to make more.  And so long as they're making their audience happy, then more power to 'em.  As the saying goes, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

My two cents.

^^
Why do I get the feeling I was backhanded-slapped right there?  Heh.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Wasn't my intention.  I quoted "crap" to indicate it was Mike's word, not mine.  I've never seen a SyFy original movie so I have no idea if they're crap or not. big_smile

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

It just seems to me that so many movies out f Hollywood are remakes, reboots, etc.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Just watched a couple of syfy original's the other day. Jersey Shore Shark Attack (pretty bad, and not in a good way) and Sharknade (pretty bad, in a good way). Not really my cup of tea, but not bad every now and again.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

@Lon-
It's hard for me to point out any "bad but good" SyFy films to you since you have refined taste.  (Yes, for once I meant that seriously)

But here is a list of most of them.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Watched that Badass PYTHON and this Gatorinsane dude earlier and wow man, just WOOOW!!!

Guess we enjoy the same stuff azathoth, bad but ooohhh soooooo gooooooood. lol

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

It's been a long time since I've watched a sci fi (I don't care that they changed the name, to me it will always be the sci fi channel) original, but I do recall a few.

One of the worst I've ever seen was called Centipede!

Despite taking place in a cave, the movie was brightly lit, and the giant centipede itself was obviously an oversize puppet being pulled along on a string.

Sci fi sure does love its shark movies, as we have Sharktopus, Sharknado, Two Headed Shark Attack, and a plethora of films with titles such as DinoShark vs. LionGater. That last one I just made up, but you get the idea.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

I watched the shark marathon on syfy that was on when Sharknado first premiered.  Swamp shark was probably my least favorite.  Sand sharks and Sharknado were my favorites and Sharktopus just kinda falls in the middle for me.

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Oh man, Savage Planet, Scream Of The Banshees, Black Swarm, Behemoth and ohhh yes a huge lot of them.

But BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freaking BUUUuuuUUUGS man.
That movie is truely a masterpiece. big_smile

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

I've actually had a conversation with Craig Engler (High up excec at Syfy) via twitter. This man loves to talk to fans of the channel/movies/shows and such. He said over several tweets that they make these movies to be fun not serious. They know the movies are bad, but 9x's out of 10 they're fun to watch and make fun of and people LOVE to share their love and quips about these movie's with the Syfy staff.

The staff over there (including the actors) are more than willing to talk with and interact with fans. Even making fun of their own movies.

That being said. Bigfoot with Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams, and a cameo by Alice Cooper is hilarious!

Re: SyFy "Original" Movies thread

Has anybody asked if they plan on releasing any to DVD?
I'd love to own a copy of SS Doomtrooper.
