Re: Horror movie project!

So far I've selected 12/25 films for my Terror Christmas marathon project! Keep 'em comin'!

Re: Horror movie project!

80s are the best era for horror imo.

Waxwork I - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ4FlHowFOc

Waxwork II - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ScyCnTFpbY
The 2 waxwork movies by Anthony Hickox were pretty underrated and fun homages to all the different horror movies especially Waxwork II.

The company of Wolves - the classic tale of little red riding hood mix up with werewolves.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARC93pDUGbQ

Creepshow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDTpWFGnBek

The burning - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbBCP7VKM-E

Twilight Zone the movie - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYiMxjfiZ60

Dreamscape - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRYp3LPL0bc

Re: Horror movie project!

Almost all of those available from MoviesUnlimited, too. This is going to be an interesting holiday!

Re: Horror movie project!

Check out Albino Farm, Bianca Barnett [one of my favorite Scream Queens] is phenomenal in it. Her Pig Bitch character is awesome!!!

Can't seem to find that one, hmm

Re: Horror movie project!

Everyone has given you a nice lists, and you say you can handle anything. How about silent cinema? Many of the best horror films were made before sound in film existed. Your propensity to Dracula and vampires makes me think you might like Nosferatu. Or a little bit later with minimal sound, Vampyr.

You know, I've actually never seen a silent film, horror or no, that would definitely be a new experience. I would have to do it during the day, though, I lay down at night when watching movies, and muting the TV is the quickest way for me to go under when I have trouble sleeping.

I do enjoy vampires, yes, but it's also primarily to do with available content, vampires, zombies, and slashers being most widely stocked, followed by found footage and haunting/possessions, then the small "everything else" sections. That's why I started this project now, since I have found many useful suggestions here, so massive a world I was unaware of, it's almost overwhelming. I've also found several sources to acquire them, I want to thank you and everyone here who has contributed to my continuing journey.

Re: Horror movie project!

I'm still building the, well, 'playlist' for a better word, this is a holiday project. You guys have suggested so many different films over many different subgenres, some have even listed entire catalogs like simply saying "Hammer Horror", it's a challenge in and of itself! I might even have to begin a "Round 2" so to speak, to cover what I can't get in over the holiday, too much great material!

Though as a sample I did see a film last night that I disliked so much I actually gave than quick opinion or a few words, The Amittyville Haunting.

Taken from my original post:

I truly believe I lost brain cells sitting through The Amittyville Haunting, terrible acting, jumping over each other's lines to the point I swear there was no script and they just ad liband stumble through the whole thing. Even for a found footage film it was way overused. There no real buildup of suspense, no truly 'shocking' moments at all, 6 people die in the first 10-15 minutes, then no one else dies or even gets badly injured 'till most of the way through, then they rush-killed the family in like 30 seconds (I am not kidding), and the poor little sister kept getting forgotten about by the cast and crew to the point that I wonder if she was a last minute "throw in", mad

Re: Horror movie project!

The amityville haunting , can't say that i have seen that one. Did a search and it's a found footage movie by the asylum. What did you expect from that company ?  That company does low budget parodies of popular movies and horrid syfy C-list movies like the transmorphers , princess of mars , the terminators , paranormal entity etc.

You are better off watching the 1979 amityville horror movie. A bit dated by now but had good atmosphere and was pretty scary at the time since the amityville house story was famous.

Re: Horror movie project!

Oh I knew it wasn't in the Amittyville series, but it was on Netflix and I got bored...

Serbian Sound Stage

You posted this like a month ago but whatever. Did you possibly mean Berberian Sound Studio? If you did, I'll second that one, as I think it's a great piece of underrated horror (though it's definitely not for everyone as it can get a bit strange/pretentious but whatever, and that one's getting a Region 1 DVD release soon which is exciting).

I also second whoever said Vampyr, I love Vampyr, even though it's not particularly scary, just a great movie and probably my second favorite vampire film (behind Nosferatu).

And since OP says s/he has never seen any silent films I'm gonna go ahead and recommend The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which is a really good silent horror that I don't think anyone's mentioned yet.
