Re: Awards 2014

Dont know if I've seen any of the movies that are nominated for anything this year....

....with that said, as far as the globes are concerned, two people I will never understand how people thing they are funny: Amy Pohler and Andy Samberg.....and they both won.  Respect for awards season is at an all time low.....

I've never been so happy to see Leo win a Golden Globe! big_smile He deserves it, and he also deserves an Oscar but I don't think that will happen. They seem to have something "out" for him or something.

One of the best actors of his generation, no doubt.  Funny, a few days ago I was reading Tom Savini's journal for Django Unchained (he played a tracker in the flick) and he went on about how beautiful a man Leo is in real life.  He said as good looking as the guy is in the movies, he's even more beautiful in real life.  I thought that was pretty cool of him to say.  Of course he also took the time to include in full caps "I'M NOT GAY, BUT..." lol

Re: Awards 2014

That is definitely the best and funniest quote of all the night.
I fell down laughing like mad when I heard this. lol

«Like a supermodel's vagina, let's give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio» - Tina Fey at Golden Globes.

So happy for the American Hustle crew, they have a lot of them. YAY!!!

Also very happy for Jared Leto as Dallas Buyer's Club is done by a Quebecker. Sweet. That'll be another fun show to watch as it always is.

Seriously, Cannes is my best then Oscars and right after the Globes.

One I like too but is in another league is Sundance...

Re: Awards 2014

The Sundance fest held about a an hour and a half drive from where I live.  I've yet to make it there, but one day...

Re: Awards 2014

I'm so excited for all the Oscar nominations.  I especially hope that Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese win!!!

Re: Awards 2014

Oh that's very cool Underdog, yeah someday you will... I hope you do.
Man, the only one I can ever dream of going back is Montreal's Fantasia. Went a few times when I lived there and there's nothing like meeting the actors and actresses in person, nothing beats that. Well aside from fucking them female ones that is. Mwahahaha

But yeah OldMattLaughingCoolLady, always loved DiCaprio, such a telented bastard. big_smile
Scorsese is great too. That'll be a fun night, can't wait and it's still a month waiting. Damnit. roll

Re: Awards 2014

Over a month sad Like a month and a half.  But yeah, I can't think of a bad Scorsese or DiCaprio movie.

Re: Awards 2014

My favorite DiCaprio ever is without any doubt Inception.
Man what a wild crazy film that is...

Re: Awards 2014

Mwhahahaha man, Sofia Vergara thanking her boobs at the Screen Actors Awards was damn HILARIOUS!!! lol

Re: Awards 2014

I think Gravity and 12 years a slave are gonna win big at the Oscars this year. I think the only real locks are Jared Leto for best supporting actor and Cate Blanchett for best actress

Re: Awards 2014

Some VERY interesting choices at SUNDANCE!!! smile

I think 12 years will win a few and maybe Gravity, but for the Oscars, I feel Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle are going to go over bigger.

Re: Awards 2014

American Hustle baby BEST mainstream one I've seen, liked it even more than Gravity pretty surprising for a die hard Sci-Fi fan like me but that's how it is. Such a freaking mark my words, MASTERPIECE!!! big_smile

Re: Awards 2014

You may think I'm crazy but I've seen all the films on the list... except for 12 years a slave and wolf of wall street which I hope to see soon but...

1. Gravity
2. 12 Years a Slave
3. American Hustle
4. Philomena
5. The Wolf of Wall Street
6. Nebraska
7. Dallas Buyers Club
8. Captain Phillips
9. Her

...though I enjoyed them a lot, the films I liked most were Dallas Buyers Club, Her and Nebraska. My favorite of all of them being Nebraska... excellent cinematography, great script, good quirky story, excellent acting, directing and editing. No special effects. Just a good movie on its own merits.

Re: Awards 2014

^^^
I'm crazy too, seen all too but Nebraska, Philomena and Captain Phillips but I have them ready to watch. Read LOTS of good stuff about Nebraska so that'll probably be the first I'll watch.

Aside American Hustle, the one I loved the most is definitely Her, man what a nice film this is... smile

Dallas Buyers Club is just phenomenal, brings me back in the 80s when AIDS was a pretty new thing. Lost so many good friends because of this crap. I was really amazed when on Facebook I've retook contact with great friends that I thought were dead. Tri-Therapy has done marvels. YAY!!!

Re: Awards 2014

Berlin's winners are in.
Golden Bear goes to Diao Yinan for his Black Coal, Thin Ice [Bai Ri Yan Huo]. Congrats dude. smile
