Total Recall (2012) -- There is some eye candy but it has no soul...it was okay bit the original was leaps and bounds better I think.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

@ChainWD40- Yeah, that seems to be the main problem with the remakes- no emotional component put into it.  Zombie's Halloweens have people 50/50, Freddy didn't have the oomph of the original, but I did like My Bloody Valentine better than the original.  Those are just off the top of my; we could go through list of remakes in the past 10-15 years probably.

As to Total Recall- why not a sequel?  You just unleashed this huge alien machine.  Why not see what consequences that has.  Plus you think that killing off one or 2 bad guys is going to stop all the corruption and related BS?  Set it 20-some years into the future, bring back Arnold as a world-weary, semi-broken down guy, and have him get dragged into something dealing with the Recall company, aliens, and throw in a 4-breasted alien and/or mutant this time!  Quad-booby goodness!  Have monkeys with 4 asses, triple Quatos sprouting out of some guys head, dogs and cats living together, total hysteria!

Just some random thoughts.

Battle of Los Angeles (2011), not to be confused with the real movie, Battle Los Angeles (2011).

Another Asylum ripoff.  BLA wasn't great, but BoLA was as much fun as punching yourself in the face.  There really is no reason to watch this one unless you like bad Asylum films (like me).

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

I think this movie is the most underrated movie part of the Marvel Cinematics Universe. I rewatched it today and it was refreshing, to say the least. I thought Edward Norton's role as Bruce Banner was great too seeing as he's one of my favorite actors, and I like how he's just an outcast with a dark secret that he just can't control. I was bummed when I found out Edward Norton wasn't going to return in The Avengers because I would have loved to see him share scenes with Scarlett Johanson, Chris Evans, and Samuel L because I think he would've had great chemistry with them. Nonetheless, this is a great movie.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

The Grey..I'm glad I watched past the credits to see the ending scene.

PUSH
Always LOOOVED Dakota Fanning so in this one I did too. She's a brilliant little actress. Camilla Belle is an actress I'd die for. Man she is so damn right on everything I've seen her do. She was amazing in Stranger Calls. And I dig the character she plays here. She's pretty damn cute too. Gorgeous even.

Pretty nice story about some people with special abilities. Evans' charater was cool. And the battle at the end is just freaking TERRIFIC!!!

Cool 2 hours. VERY cool. 9/10

Leave - 2011.

It was an instant on flix.  Wow...very enjoyable, but really sad.  I cried at the end.  Total surprise there.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

This morning just after lots of expressos, I watched
TOTAL RECALL 2012
and man, what an amazing movie. The memories of the first one are still present but this one takes you to a whole different level.
And it has 2 of the most beautiful actresses this planet has, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. I like to see Kate play a really bitchy role which we're not used to see her play. Jess was great too and so was Farell. What impressed me the most after the story was all the marvellous work done on the backgrounds. Truely awesome.
And it's worth seeing just for the girl with 3 boobs. lol

I enjoyed it very, very, very much, good job Wiseman!!!

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

I liked Farrell in it, and agree the digitally-created cityscape was a stunner (I'd put it right up there with Blade Runner) but the story was TOO familiar.  I would have hoped for more changes than the scant few involved, else what's the point?  The original is VERY loosely based on the Phillip Dick story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale," why not try to adapt that short story more closely instead of the original movie?

I enjoyed the remake well enough I suppose, but still...

A very crazy movie called Exit-A Night From Hell about whores. Pretty damn wild it was. Great cinematography too.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

The Dark Knight Rises.  Second watch.  Tom Hardy rocks as Bane.  Physically, the dude's a monster.  The voice he chose is a bit awkward and forced, but it has its moments of effectiveness

Christian Bale isn't up to snuff as Wayne/Batman and seems as though he'd rather be somewhere else.  Michael Caine is completely wasted; he disappears after the first act and doesn't show back up 'til the end.

Some HUGE gaps in logic and storytelling (Joseph Gordon-Levitt figured out Wayne was Batman as a child, based on a facial expression?  Seriously???) and an overall sense of blandness leave this flick with a lot to be desired.  Though I suppose it was to be expected; after the triumph that was The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan had nowhere to go but down with a sequel.  And he did.

Now I'm off to watch Skyfall and will post what I thought of it after. smile

Skyfall.

I'll add this one to my list of all-time favorite Bond flicks.  Right up there with From Russia with Love, Goldeneye, and Casino Royale.

Yeah.  It's that good.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Looper: 9/10

Amazing. Solidifies Joseph Gordon-Levitt as my favorite modern actor.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Apocalypse Now

One of my favorite movies of all time, simply flawless cinematography. A masterpiece.
