Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Green Street Hooligans 2 (2009)

I would this is the weakest of 3,  it not connected to first movie as it stand alone movie,  small parts about Hooligan.

Even if this movie was called something else, it would just about barley stand on it's on feet!

The plot was really weak for most of the movie,  there much they could do with it! and I just could not connect the male leader.

There some some okay fight scenes here and there but nothing to impact of first or even 3rd movie in series.

The acting was not good at all from most of the cast, I was not fan of anyone, I could not care less about one, who dies or who gets free.

Sub plot of Bad cop or good cop, So silly,  movie was far to predicable.

3 out of 10

Green Street 3: Never Back Down (2013)

This was actually better then second movie by a lot as this felt more like a REAL sequel to first movie this silly second sequel. (There are still not connections to first or sequel, it just another stand alone movie in series)

This movie about old firm lead who decided come back to old ways after he get called that younger brother as been killed.

We did get see this at start of the movie, it was little as you seen head get smashed up at start of the movie.

I liked fact the show flashback of him and brother talking in black and white, I thought that good idea and add some thing to movie.

There were some I felt watch bit rocky at times, with all training scenes, which kind of make movie a bit more slower pace in some places.

Adkins  who back to firm and get them Firm back on top,  as battles everyone which each firm.

There some okay fighting, here and there but there were lot high kick and kung fu going on in this movie.

And there were some normal fights, which was decent, some fight don't that long at time and fights feel end in blink of a eye.

There one or two turns in story that liked, which I thought, it didn't really add much to the rest of the plot/movie

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Yes I'm a HUGE HARDCORE FREAKING FAN of The Asylum films. So anybody that hates them, just stop reading and get in another thread RIGHT NOW!!! tongue

And this one freaking delivered like H3LL. One of the most sensual and sexy ones I've seen recently. Man they're GORGEOUS!!! Naked girls in Jail, what's not to like really.

And boy the hotties. big_smile

A pretty cool story too really, not just a visual wonderful feast.

Nymphomaniac: Vol. 1 - 6/10

Nymphomaniac: Vol. 2 - 6/10

Not much in these two movies and I've people praise them.

F'ing boring.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

You have to enjoy Von Triers to understand his films. Antichrist, Melancholia to name a few. But I understand that you found it boring. He does his stuff a VERY special way that isn't for everyone. smile

VERONICA MARS [2014] rewatch

Man the second time around was even more ass kicking and Kristen was even more badass the second time. H3LL what a great flick. Lovelovelovelovelove... And more. lol

Umpteenth rewatch:):)

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Since the last time I posted I watched The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Frozen, Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning. Takes me back smile

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

You miss the 3 best of Disney though.
Snow White, Fantasia and The Sleeping Beauty. lol

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Totally lives up to the hype, this one was so cool. To me it felt like the Marvel movie that was the most grounded, it's own story, forget the Avengers - this one stands up by itself.

Some incredible action sequences, particularly with the winter soldier. All of Captain America's combat (shield included) looked glorious! Solid plot, plenty of tension, and a real cool side-kick.

To me this one challenges The Avengers for my Marvel top spot.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

I watched Snowpiercer! My suspension of disbelief was challenged throughout the whole thing, but it was still an interesting watch. I liked it.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Brother From Another Planet (1984) - WTF!?  This started off pretty good, but turned out to be so long and drawn out. Don't get me wrong, its a well done movie with entertaining bits here and there but it felt more like a study about life in the Bronx in the 1980's than a sci-fi flick.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

INVADERS FROM MARS [1986] rewatch

Hooper and my lost LOVE, the wonderful Karen Black. RIP my dear, was fun to see you back in this GLORIOUS flick. Lauren Fletcher isn't bad either so are Timothy Buttoms and Bud Cort... Man Hooper smokes some damn good one because H3LL this is a crazy one.

A very fun revisit. smile

And boy those creatures wow.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH [2007] rewatch

Man a soldier disappears after coming back from Irak.

Wonderful one. Poor Tommy has a hard time figuring this one out and Charlize works her way beautifully in court as a lawyer. Fun. Yep. smile

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

I know you guys will never accept this as anything other than mainstream--JOHN CARTER (2012)    Got my copy for free and was pleasantly surprised.  I'm still trying to figure out what puts this on so many WORST lists.  I mean, I've heard from countless critics and some non-professional viewers as well that this one is unwatchable.  Those labels prevented me from watching it until I could see it for free and at no inconvenience to anything else I was doing.  I expected the worst, and guess what?-I liked it quite a bit, would even highly recommend it were MY tastes all that's at stake here.  Is it just me?  Am I the only person on Earth who liked it??????

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

I mean, we're arguing over semantics but I'm still bugged that some people are mangling semanticc so badly so I'll continue to argue.  It's no longer a matter of opinion.  It's almost like saying house when you mean dog.  Okay, some things may be science fiction instead of true blue horror (there are so many mixtures of the two in the same package, as well) but does everything not strictly horror qualify as as  "mainstream" as the old Rock Hudson-Doris Day vehicles?

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Oh mainstream it is indeed. Great Sci-Fi flick. No you're not the only one, I totally DIG IT!!! The Aliens are BADASS looking!!! smile

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

This being a horror movie site, basically anything that's not a horror film gets dumped into the "mainstream" pile.  I don't agree with it, but that's how it's all shaken out thus far.  What if someone wanted to post that they'd just seen The Stunt Man, starring Steve Railsback?  It's not a horror movie, but it sure as hell isn't mainstream either.

That said, we could always start a thread for all the various non-horror genres.  "Last sci-fi film you watched," "Last Comedy film you watched," "Last action movie you watched," etc.

But no, Punk -- we're not going to have a "Last porno you watched" thread. big_smile

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Awwww shit... Too bad... lol

Anyway with the one unclassifiable movies thread you've made everything that isn't Horror or Mainstream should get in there. And for me it's OK putting Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Dramas in Mainstrean because well THAT'S what they are. Why make it complicated in separating them??? Works good enough this way I find.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

NATURAL CITY [2003] rewatch

One of my favorite Sci-Fi films this is. Korean so you KNOW the FX and shots are wonderful. But the lovely and cool story man, so intense. A military agent gets an Android girl but because of the short life span they have she's slowly dying. He gets a doctor to work on a way to fix this and the dude discovers a human girl that has the cell mix he needs to make it work. But all goes wrong because of a bunch of Androids are trying to take control of the city. Man, such an amazing visual eye candy feast this is. Truely sublime. And badass story. smile

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Grumpy Old Men (1993) for the umpteenth time.  The story's quite lacking but I never get tired of the hilarious chemistry shared by Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon.  Watching these two old pros verbally spar is worth every second.

Re: Last Mainstream movie you watched.

Gonna watch Thief (1981) tonight.
