Topic: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

And if so is it because American horror film maker's can't sustain their audience's
attention?

Or you know keep them interested.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

For the most part yes.  There is some but not as outrageous as American movies.  Some things are just more taboo in other countries and it seems nudity is done less, and when it is done is more in an artful than trashy way.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Maybe it's because most Japanese women have the build of pre-pubescent boys while the American film industry is filled to the brim with saline/collagen/silicone-infused women (god bless them).

Not to be insulting here, I'm just pointing out the obvious. Like Freud said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Not to be offensive, but aren't most japanese girls small in height, if so,
it might make them good for gymnastic stuff, and that kind of stuff can sometimes
be needed in horror movie's.

You know, really limber people, but I guess it depend's.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Most asians have small tits imho so maybe that's why we hardly seen any boobs in their horror films lol.

Evil Dead Trap has a naked asian lady in it.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Lots of nudity...just no pubic hair.  Last time was in the late 60's I think.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

yeah, but what horror movie had lots of asian nudity or even some, I can't even think
of one, unlike american horror movie's.

also the only reason that there is no interest in the american movies nowadays all it keeps repeating itself with no original ideas whereas j movies actually uses creativity other than stealing from other countries for example the ring an american movie and the ring gu a japanese movie. i kno some foreign movies r lame but they at least make an effort to be creative. another example of stealing a movie is the departed an american movie and infernal affairs a chinese movie r exactly the same!! come on america get creative n stop being like china.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Well their extreme horror/exploitation films do...but perhaps they are more 'Exploitation' than horror.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Yeah there might be less nudity be the definitely is a lot more sexual violence in their films for the most part.

Well I can make the same argument against Asian films stealing from American audiences.. They have a small film coming out that is like Transformers only they shrunk them down to make them pint size.. They also have there own rip off Spider Man movie.. Can't remember the name right now but I wrote an article on it over at Movies Online..

Also Asian films if you haven't noticed have just turned into countless ghost stories.. I think if I see one more asian pasty girl with long black hair I'm gonna puke. There are countless films like that. As a matter of fact Asian filmmakers are now almost catering to American audiences. Look at Hideo Nakata he directed his own remake of The Ring 2 and it sucked. Takashi Shimizu directed all of the American The Grudge films and they weren't that hot either..

well first off transformers isnt from america its from japan at first and created by the japanese. now transformers isnt just one of a kind there is also anime like escaflowne, robotech, gundam wing etc. tat share the same theme. they just want to use tat idea until it has died. now i will agree with u tat asian countries do steal as a matter of fact everybody in the world does. well refering to ur sterotype of a a pale girl with long black hair\ r only trying to kill it off until it is dead yes it is dead in the US but it doesnt mean tat other countries have. plus their r cultures tat might think differently of the pale girl with long black hair.

now ur spider man movie sounds interesting can u fill me in on tat im curious on how close it is to rip off spider man

p.s china never stole it just happened >.>  <.< hehehe suckers they never suspect a thing *evil grin*

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Well my main point is EVERY country steals or borrows ideas. Its not fair to just say "American Filmmakers" and then tag on whatever diregoratory remark you want to make about them.. You have made several posts slamming American directors and I don't think thats fair. I respect your opinion if you think Asian filmmakers are the best.. More power to you they are talented.. but that doesn't make another type of filmmaker any less..

The film I was talking about came out around the same time Spider-Man was making millions. It was called Mercury Man.. While they do throw in a little flair its obviously cashing in on the success of Sam Raimi's Spider Man..

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

South Korean horrors are sexier, less inhibited - their remake of RING (RING: VIRUS) had a sexy Sadako character in it.

KOKKURI was a recent Japanese horror with nudity and sex scenes in it - wasn't very scary though.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

theres nudity in Park Chan Wooks Vengence trilogy, everyone of them and some pretty craZy sex scenes

i have nothing against a little nudity...or a lot of it big_smile

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

I think the older flicks have alot more nudity than newer , I just watched "The Killer Snakes " 1974 from the shaw bros , there is tons of nudity and sex in it.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

different Taboos...They dont drop trou as much but dont have as many hang ups about showing children being hurt/killed...

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Children get hurt in Japanese horror movie's, because I know a child got hurt in Stephen King's Pet Semetary.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Since the question was asking about Japanese horror in particular and not Asian horror in general, then the answer would be no.  Japanese horror doesn't tend to have lots of nudity because it's taboo to show pubic hair or even breasts in mainstream Japanese cinema.  Even some Japanese exploitation movies which do contain nudity will blur out nipples and pubic hair -- and so does some Japanese hardcore porn!

But when you get to talking about Asian horror in general -- to include Chinese/HK, Korean, Thai, etc. -- then yes, nudity is much more abundant, particularly in films carrying the Category III rating, which is the equivalent of an NC-17 in the U.S.  But films can be slapped with that rating for a number of reasons, from explicit gore and nudity to language and/or dialogue which is anti-governmental in nature.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

^ good point for a smart-azz  tongue    hey LL ....  "I have not yet begun to defile my body" ..... just watched it again today big_smile

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

I've been watching it all month...half-over, just starting, final reel, doesn't matter.  If it's on, I watch it.

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

^ nice ......  why johhny ringo u look like someone just walked over ur grave

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

Could it have something to do with the Japanese obscenity laws?  Just curious, because I watched a documentry, I don't remember where, where they talked about sex and morality in Japan.  If I recall right, they made mention of the fact that it was against the law to show the genitallia, hence even in their hardcore porn, all of the performer's naughty bits were blurred so that you could not see them.  But it was funny that the people doing the documentry also made it a big point to point out the fact that there is this huge school girl fetish in Japan!

Re: Is there less nudity in japanese horror films?

^ hence the birth of pixilated porn  lol
