Topic: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I know this sounds weird but if you were going to watch all of the Jason and Freddy films, what order would you watch them in? This is what I have so far:

Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part II
Friday the 13th Part III
Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
A Nightmare on Elm Street
A Nightmare on Elm Street II: Freddy's Revenge
A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors
A Nightmare on Elm Street IV: The Dream Master
A Nightmare on Elm Street V: The Dream Child
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
New Nightmare
Freddy vs. Jason
Jason X

This has all of the Jason films of the 80's, then the Freddy films, then the two "final films", the alternate reality New Nightmare followed by the showdown between the two and ending with the futuristic Jason X.

Re: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I would split them up more so I wouldn't get bored with a series.
While at the same time still keeping them in a chronological order.

Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part II
Friday the 13th Part III
Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
A Nightmare on Elm Street
A Nightmare on Elm Street II: Freddy's Revenge
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors
A Nightmare on Elm Street IV: The Dream Master
A Nightmare on Elm Street V: The Dream Child
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
New Nightmare
Freddy vs. Jason
Jason X

Is that chronological by when the films were made of where they take place in the fictional universe?

Re: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I think it's pretty close to the order when they were made, with a few exceptions. But yea, I was thinking more of a fictional timeline.

Re: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I like it. You're right. If one watched eight Friday the 13th films in a row, it might get a little bit tedious. The change up would be better. Thanks.

Re: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I would watch them in the order they were released.

Re: Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street Marathon

I started watching all of the Jason/Freddy films Sunday. This is the order I settled on:

Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part II
Friday the 13th Part III
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
A Nightmare on Elm Street Part II: Freddy's Revenge
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
A Nightmare on Elm Street IV: The Dream Master
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
New Nightmare
Freddy vs. Jason
Jason X

It's by theatrical release date except for the final two which are reversed since Jason X takes place in the far future. I was going to go by the timelines I found online but they didn't seem right to me (e.g. Freddy's Dead is supposed to take place in 1999 apparently while the events of New Nightmare take place in 1994).
