This is annoying.  Vampy wants the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows movies.

Part 1 is now only available on either DVD or Blu-ray.  The combo pack is no longer available for less the $35.  And the digital copy is the combo is already expired(?!). 

Part 2 has the DVD, Blu-ray, or combo pack with includes the UltraViolet version instead of a digital copy.  UltraViolet is a new dipshit idea where instead of giving you a digital copy, it is a streaming service.  Which requires you to sign up, and some other BS.

Also, supposedly all Harry Potter movies are going into the vault on December 29th.  Uh-huh, until the inevitable 'special edition' that will come out next Halloween.

So $27 for 2 movies, neither of which is really in the formats that I want.  But Vampy likes her discs, and DLing BR takes forever.  Is Warner Bros actively trying to piss everyone off and get them to DL their stuff?  Morons.  Good news for the Brits, for $47 you can get the entire series on BR starting Dec. 2nd.

I don't like Blu-Ray.  I've noticed in the last year or so, with the furthering of its popularity, that DVDs are beginning to suffer in regards to bonus features and extras which are instead being saved for BR releases.  Captain America: The First Avenger is a prime example, among a horde of other flicks which would otherwise have been DVDs loaded to the gills with extras.

It's like DVD is going the way of the laserdisc now, and it's pissing me off.

Just picked up THE ROCKETEER on Blu-ray.

I desperately want to get MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS but that Blu-ray digibook is a budget buster considering I've already made too many purchases recently.

Well this was a stroke of luck

My mother had cataract surgery last week (ok...that's NOT the lucky part smile ), which means I've been having to chauffeur her around because she hasn't been able to drive. Yesterday, she got the OK from the doctor to start driving again.

To thank me for driving here around during the Xmas season (knowing that I hate to drive among the downtown crowds) she got me a little thank you gift (unnecessary but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth).

She got me the Blu-ray of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS!

I agree, Lon. Although I do like my PS3...honestly im an advocate for blue ray players but not the blue rays themselves. My dvds look amazing played on my ps3 via HDMI and my full HD Sony 40
