Topic: Shaun Hutson

I am HUGE fan of his books,
Some of his books are so gory they make me feel sick, he is the best horror writer and i think he is so underrated

it done all of these books and I  got them all

here are some of his books
Assassin
London was in the grip of it's bloodiest bout of gang warfare for two years. Shootings in the street, kidnapping and car chases. Until now, Frank Harrison had ruled gangland but it looked as if that reign was going to end in blood. Someone was out to destroy him and his men. To wipe out everyone associated with him. But who? Harrison had to know, and into this world of violence, corruption, madness and death came the Assassin. A force more powerful than death, more lethal than a lorry full of high velocity weapons and more terrifying than any nightmare...
10/10 great book

Slugs
THEY SLIME, THEY OOZE, THEY KILL...
One female slug can lay one and a half million eggs a year - a fact which holds terrifying consequences for the people of Merton. As the town basks in the summer heat, a new breed of slug is growing and multiplying. In the waist-high grass, in the dank, dark cellars they are acquiring new tastes, new cravings. For blood. For flesh. Human flesh...
10/10 i am shit scared of slugs now

Breeding Ground
Deep in the dirty sewers of London there is a Breeding Ground.
The Slugs have come back... slowly... silently... they slither along dank, fetid tunnels into the city in search of human flesh. Their insatiable need knows no bounds.
But now they bring a new horror - a plague which spreads insanity and death, transforming its victims into grotesque, crazed killers.
Caught in the maelstrom of horror is Dr. Alan Finch - the only man capable of destroying the Breeding Ground forever
10/10 i love the bloodly end

Re: Shaun Hutson

Finaly got the last bookThe  Victims (I GOT ALL OF THEM NOW)

Captives 9/10
'Two murderers commit motiveless crimes then burn themselves to death with one mile of each other in the space of a week. You're telling me there's no connection?'

But there is a connection - with practices so vile that not even the hardened, street-wise Detective Inspector Frank Gregson can imagine. And unless he can find some answers, London's streets will be streets no longer: they will be rivers gushing with deep, red blood...

The answers lie behind sealed doors of the hospital wing of Whitely Prison. Deep in the bowels of the building Dr. Robert Dexter is working at his own methods of solving prison overcrowding. Methods that link Whitely to London's brutal, seedy underworld of Soho sex-shows and drug barons. And methods that will turn ordinary men into raving psychopaths, screaming for vengeance, destruction and death...

Deathday 10/10
BEWARE THE GOLDEN DISK. IT BRINGS DECAY, DESTRUCTION, DEATH...

Four hundred years ago, a woman died in agony to keep it's secret and went to her grave with it hung around her neck. Now, in a desolate graveyard, a workman has unearthed the amulet by chance and decides to keep it. His first mistake...

That night the village of Medford is plunged into a nightmare of terror by the discovery of a double murder and mutilation - the first in a series of shocking killings. Wherever the amulet is found, ancient evil - hideous, powerful and vile - is once again reborn...
Beth Parker returned home one day to find a nightmare on her doorstep - in the form of her younger sister Lucy.

Lucy's Child 10/10 MUST READ (this book got me into reading, when i was 16, i never used  to for about ten years, but i got hooked, i got hooked, i could not put this book down,, i reading on way to the bus stop, thanks god, i picked this books, i would have missed a lot great stuff).
After the mysterious fire that killed their parents five years earlier, Lucy had disappeared from Beth's life in a twilight world of drugs and violence. But now she was back, needing somewhere to stay. There is no love lost between the sisters and the tense atmosphere is strained further by the repeated references to Beth's inability to bear children. Lucy knows how much it hurts - but she likes to hurt people. Perhaps that's why she carries a knife.

But if Beth thought having Lucy to stay was a nightmare, having her gone was much, much worse. A tragic accident takes her away, but leaves a legacy behind. Lucy's child. And Beth's only chance at motherhood. But there are forces abroad that cannot permit what Beth sees as her right. Forces that will stop at nothing to prevent Beth from getting what she wants.
And she wants Lucy's child...

Re: Shaun Hutson

Purity 9/10  (If you like scream, you love this book)
Amy Watson hears the twisted morality of the masses every night on her London talk-radio show. Whenever their idle chat spills over into something more threatening, she flicks a switch and laughs: 'You're history.'

Two prostitutes, a pimp, a drug addict and a tramp, have all been identically strangled in the city, and the phone lines are buzzing, Just as it seems a morally righteous serial killer is cleaning up the streets, an arson attack at a Camden hospice takes eleven patients to their deaths earlier than expected, and every atrocity becomes united by a chilling bond. Someone out there is not only very sick. They are killing the sick.

Is the voice that warns Amy she is the next to die just another late-night loser? Why does she dread the man who has become her neighbour and, so easily, her lover? When Amy discovers she may have contracted breast cancer, her darkest fears are realised. She is now a target. She is no longer protected by a flicking switch. She's history...  (i still can't believe who the killer was)

Necessary Evil 10/10 MUST READ
i was not looking forward to this one, the last two books before this (Hybrid & Hell to pay, were poor ) but Shuan Hustson went to old gory ways, this books is a masterpices.
It was to be a routine job. Matt Franklin and his companions would rob the Securicor van. Simple. Until the job turned into a nightmare. Two of his men are shot dead and another is fatally wounded. But who is trying to wipe them out, killing not just them but their families too? How are the Government and the British army implicated? What lurks within a secret research establishment in the English countryside? Franklin has to find out. Finally, the only one left alive, he tires of being the prey and decides to become the hunter.

His quest will bring him into conflict with forces he cannot begin to imagine or understand, but he is driven by a need for revenge that overrides his fear.

Aided by a desperate detective, Franklin becomes embroiled in a series of events that lead to a terrifying climax in the London Underground, where he comes face to face with the answers he has sought.

Like all of us, Franklin was told monsters don't exist. He's about to find out that someone was lying

Knife Edge 7/10 this is so diffrent of others books, there not gory at all , i love Shaun gory stuff, but i thought i would hate this book, Shaun Hustson it so good, it grab into books, i loved it.
'You know what bombs can do...'

When Sean Doyle receives his first message from Robert Neville, he has only seven hours in which to save London - and the Northern Ireland peace process - from disaster.

Neville is an explosives expert in the British Army, but peace in the Province has ripped a hole in his life. His demands are simple: to be re-united with his daughter, Lisa. His threats are terrifying: a series of bombs to be detonated in the centre of the capital every hour until he has the girl. Already responsible for a string of callous attacks on Irish public figures on both sides of the political divide, it's clear to all concerned that Neville is deadly serious. And Military Intelligence wants him stopped before the cease-fire is dealt a fatal blow.

As a member of the Counter Terrorist Unit, Doyle knows his own days are numbered by the cessation of The Troubles. He's close to understanding Neville's mind - closer, in fact, than it is safe to be. Doyle also knows he could be signing his death warrant if he observes orders, but whatever the fighting has taken from him - it has not destroyed his duty to fight terrorism. It's his job.

But this day's work has only just begun. Forced to toy with the life of an innocent girl and trust the words of a cold-hearted assassin, Doyle must find Neville before London is reduced to rubble - and before his own violent instincts propel him towards self-destruction

Re: Shaun Hutson

Yeah, thanks for the lists.  I've never read anything by this author.

Re: Shaun Hutson

I need to start reading some stuff by different authors. I don't read much and when I do its just the same old King books I've read a million times. I keep seeing people talking about all these authors, I really need to look into some of these.

Anybody got any other really good books I should look into?

'Something Wicked This Way Comes' is great. The film's not bad either.

Re: Shaun Hutson

this guy sounds good, I'll check him out next time I'm at the bookstore.

Re: Shaun Hutson

i am so bored , so is the rest

Renegades
Immortality - the ultimate secret. David and Laura Callahan, like others before them throughout the ages, will stop at nothing in their perverted quest for it. But for Callahan, a multi-millionaire gun-runner, eternal life has never looked less likely: he is being hunted by two British counter-terrorists. And nobody knows who hired the killers - or why...

In a race against time, a trail of violence and terror leads from a desecrated church in France, to London, and on to strife-torn Ireland where modern terrorism battles against ancient powers and a terrible secret is revealed. A long-forgotten secret that will threaten the lives of those involved. And when the final confrontation comes, the living will envy the dead...

White Ghost
The hijack of an army weapons convoy in Northern Ireland; a severed head on the railings of London's Leicester Square, and a series of murders in Soho. Violence is on the increase throughout the British Isles. The old enemy, the IRA is responsible for some of it - but now there are new enemies that nobody in Britain knows how to deal with. Enemies who have codes of their own, a currency of their own, who already have Hong Kong wrapped up in their tentacles and who are now moving to Britain. They are the deadly Triad gangs, and their currency is in demand all over the world. It's called heroin...

Sean Doyle knows all about violence. A member of the Counter Terrorist Unit, he's been after the IRA for years. And now, investigating the hijack of the weapons convoy, he finds a chance to infiltrate the organisation. He also makes other discoveries - the body of an IRA informer stuffed with smuggled heroin, and an IRA safe house full of Triads.

The IRA, drugs and the Chinese. It doesn't add up. Only when Doyle connects it to the killings of the Chinese in London and Hong Kong does it make sense. The Triads are at war with each other, and one gang has the support of the IRA. But why? The carnage itself is only just the beginning - and will escalate to unheard-of heights unless Doyle can find the missing convoy of deadly ammunition...

Nemesis 9/10
AUGUST 1940: while Hitler's bombers are busy reducing London to rubble, biologist George Lawrenson is nearing the climax of Project Genesis - a daring experiment aimed at breeding a super-race to combat Hitler's armies. But the results of his work are so appalling in their implications that Churchill personally orders Lawrenson silenced and all traces of his experiments destroyed.

Almost half a century later Jon and Sue Hacket are contemplating the ruins of their marriage. A relationship already under strain now seems to have been destroyed by the savage murder of their baby daughter, Lisa, and the couple retreat to the small town of Hinkston to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.

But Hinkston is a town with a secret. A series of horrific and unexplained murders has brought terror to the area, and when Sue approaches Dr Edward Curtis - a man famous in Hinkston for his treatment of infertile women - to help her conceive another child, past and present evils give birth to a new nightmare...

Re: Shaun Hutson

Deadhead 7/10
A sickening series of murders in London have left 5 homeless kids mutilated, and the capital is in shock.

Nick Ryan, private detective, has seen the reports, but it's not his problem. No one's paying him to find the killers. He doesn't care. In fact, since his wife and daughter left him, he hasn't cared about a lot, least of all himself.

Suddenly there's another victim. She's not homeless and so far she's not dead. But when Ryan sees the videotape of his own daughter and her masked, male captors, he begins a desperate, obsessive hunt for her and he will not stop. He can't. Time is running out for both of them...

Heathen

Donna Ward was shattered when her husband was killed in a car crash, devastated to learn that another woman had been with him, and disbelieving when the police informed her that the crash has been no accident. How could her beloved Chris, a best-selling author, have any enemies.

How long had he had a mistress? And who are the mysterious men in the photographs she finds? Suddenly Donna has to face up to the fact that she knows less about her husband than she thought.

But as she searches for the missing answers to her questions, Donna moves ever closer to danger, for she herself is being stalked by people who have killed before and will do so again. She will come face to face with those who call themselves the Sons of Midnight...

Spawn 9/10 (this will give you nightmares becasuse it's true) From Shaun Hutson, author of the classic horror tale Slugs, comes Spawn - a psychologically complex terror thriller about two disturbed men and the unnatural consequences of their deeds.

Harold Pierce is released from a mental hospital where he has spent all of his adult life. His new job as a hospital porter involves him in the burning of aborted foetuses - an act which brings back nightmare memories of the death by fire of his baby brother Gordon. The trauma is such that the deranged but gentle Harold begins to neglect his duties...

Paul Harvey is a convicted murderer and his escape from prison places the Exham police force under a great deal of pressure. Their vigorous manhunt yields no results but when they begin to investigate a brutal series of murders no one has any doubt that it is Harvey who is decapitating the hapless victims...

Erebus 5/10
The people of Wakely are pale and gaunt. They have abnormally long fingernails and prominent teeth - and some of them have hair on the palm of there hands. Their animals are ugly and vicious, their offspring are born mutant. Mares eat their newborn foals, bullocks rampage in the slaughterhouse - and kill their would-be butchers.

What is poisoning the life-blood of Wakely town?

Relics 5/10
From the relics of the past comes a new nightmare. A force so powerful, so obscenely evil that it threatens to reach across the centuries and engulf mankind...

When a hidden chamber filled with the skulls of children is discovered by an archaeologist horror is unleashed on the town of Longfield. Black Mass orgies with heroin-addicted teenagers, savage dog-fights, mutilated corpses...

also if anyone as read any of his books , please comment
thanks

Re: Shaun Hutson

NEW BOOK big_smile

Unmarked Graves
When investigative telejournalist Nick Pearson is sent to Darworth in Hertfordshire, he finds a community divided. A steady influx of foreign immigrants has led to racial tension and open hostility and violence. The African newcomers are particularly targeted, regular victims of vandalism and even fire-bombing. The Africans seem unwilling to fight back, until the arrival of a mysterious, powerful man who many of them know - and fear. Nick begins to wonder if there might be some kind of connection between this newcomer and the desecration of a local cemetery - an event followed by the disappearance of a number of corpses and a series of bizarre, ritualistic murders. In each case, the victims bear the same marks on their bodies. Scars that Nick has seen before, five years earlier in Africa. Ancient religion and modern prejudice are about to collide, and when they do, there may be no survivors. At least not human ones ...

Re: Shaun Hutson

i just got Unmark graves
today can't wait to read

Re: Shaun Hutson

Body Count (Awesome book, one of his best yet)
Wounded. Exhausted. Losing blood. The figure in the mask stumbles through the streets. Closing in are others in masks but they don't stumble, they stalk. They carry machetes, clubs and knives. And they know how to use them. They've killed before and they're going to kill again. Who is kidnapping seemingly random victims and then slaughtering them in an elaborate game of cat and mouse? And why are these murders being streamed over the internet? Watching the horror unfold at New Scotland Yard is Detective Inspector Joe Chapman and his team. Chapman searches for clues, hints - anything that might tell him where and when this savage hunt is happening. He'd give anything to know. He'd give almost anything to stop them. Unfortunately for DI Chapman, 'almost' anything might not be enough...

Last Rites (i didn;t like this book that much 5/10)
Almost beaten to death by a gang of violent teenagers, schoolmaster Peter Mason wants nothing more than to escape the simmering violence of London, his broken marriage and the memories of his daughter's death. The perfect chance comes in the form of a position at a prestigious boarding school in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside. But the past is always lurking in the background. Not just his own past but that of the school and its former staff. Mason becomes obsessed with discovering what became of his predecessor. The man's mysterious disappearance remains unexplained, leaving a chilling legacy behind. Mason finds that there are strange events occurring at the school - violent and sinister events that have happened before and will, if he cannot stop them, happen again ...
