Topic: Grindhouse films

hi, does n e 1 no n e GOOD grindhouse films? I've seen sum interviews that eli roth did and he said there were loads of great ones in the 70's. Cheers

Re: Grindhouse films

Man.. Should I get started?? Heh.. well I would suggest personally Thriller: A Cruel Picture, Zombi 2 was considered "grindhouse", anything in the Ilsa collection, Basket Case, Street Trash, I Spit On Your Grave, Last House on the Left, House on the Edge of the Park, Fight For Your Life, Squirm...

Check those out and then get back to me.. heh

Re: Grindhouse films

Nice list Goon, what are your favorites? I like most of what you listed along with Switchblade Sisters, Blood Feast, Snuff, The Wizard of Gore, The Candy Snatchers, and so many others. I am really into this lost genre of cinema.

Re: Grindhouse films

Is the gore gore girls any good?

Re: Grindhouse films

have not seen that one yet, but it can't be far off from Gordon's other films Blood Feast and Wizard of Gore so I bet it's good.

Re: Grindhouse films

Yea I watched Blood Feast and I wasn't much of a fan.. I guess I just don't dig the REALLY bad acting.. To a point its not to bad but when it gets to be like that.. I'm done..

Heh well I'm also a fan of some of Russ Meyers stuff.. Specifically Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens with Kitten Natividad.. Funny stuff..

My favorites would have to be Thriller, Zombi 2, Street Trash, Basket Case, I Spit on Your Grave,  and Master of the Flying Guilotine.. Last one is not horror but its still Grindhouse material.. Same with all of Russ Meyers stuff.. He made mostly softcore porn comedies.. Funny stuff that you should look into..

Re: Grindhouse films

Right on thanks, I added a butt load to my netflix queue. What I plan to do is steal an idead from another group of guys on a different website (not half as cool as this website that's for sure) and start a monthly night for some friends to come over, have drinks and dinner and watch two movies kind of like a grindhouse double bill. At the end I want to have everyone give some opinions and what they thought was funny or gross or stupid and write a review of the night. If anyone wants they can watch the same movies as we are and we can include your opinion in the review. What do you guys think?

Re: Grindhouse films

Sounds like a great idea.. We would have to pick the movies out awhile in advance that way we can try and track down a copy.. I'm definetly game for something like that..

Re: Grindhouse films

yeah me to plus i have to pick up some good old grind house movies since planet terror and death proof are coming out.

Re: Grindhouse films

Is there any good online shops for grindhouse films?

Re: Grindhouse films

Some other grindhouse flicks are Kingdom of Spiders and Satans Cheerleaders.  My favorite grindhouse films would have to be Street Trash and I Drink Your Blood.  And of course, Zombi 2.  Um, you can find all these titles on www.amazon.com for a fairly decent price.

Re: Grindhouse films

Just google grindhouse films and you will see a lot of different sites you can order movies from, but look out for the people that try and sell you burnt copies. Try and buy originals, let's not support bootleggers.

Re: Grindhouse films

Sometimes thats the only way to get some of these films. Not everyone of them are on legit DVD's yet. If ever.

Re: Grindhouse films

Ive just ordered street trash and the pinky violence collection, is this a good buy

Re: Grindhouse films

Not sure about The Pinky Violence Collection, but Street Trash is an awesome film.

Re: Grindhouse films

Yea Street Trash is an awesome movie.. I've never seen the Pinky Violence films but one of them does have Christina Lindberg in it.. She is one of my favorite "women of the Grindhouse"...

Re: Grindhouse films

Who could forget Cannibal Holocaust?

Re: Grindhouse films

Yea the reason I never mentioned Cannibal Holocaust is because it never really had a run theatrically in the states.. I believe it played once in NYC and that was it.. But you are correct it is a "grindhouse" type film..

Re: Grindhouse films

Wasn't the dvd released in the US by grindhouse?  That's the only reason I thought to mention it...

Re: Grindhouse films

Yep... Grindhouse Releasing

Re: Grindhouse films

Well I just watched Coffy and Foxy Brown and I can officially say those are worth picking up.. They aren't horror by any means but they are great exploitation films..
