Topic: The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher

I love the Dresden FIles books by Jim Butcher.  Part sci-fi part horror, they are very interesting books.  Often times funny and with all sorts of monsters.  Sure the main character is a wizard, but it still has some very good horror elements to it as well.

On a side note, I think the Sci-fi channel series sucked.  They didnt do a good job of adapting the books in my opinion.  They tried to make it too cheesy and lost a lot of the content that makes the books work.

i didnt mind the series but that said... i never read the books.

If you liked the series, i think the books would surprise you.  Dresden doesnt use a hockey stick or drum stick for his wizarding.   Bob plays a much more interesting role as well.  Plus Dresden's magic causes anything electrical to short out, including his run down VW bug(which wasnt in the series), so it makes for some hilarity as well as difficult times in his case solving.  There are just a lot of things that make the books effective that got cut out or changed in the series that pissed me off.

I loved the TV series.
I was sad when it got canceled.
I haven't read the books, but I have one thru nine.
Been meaning to read them, but haven't gotten to it yet. Hopefully someday.
