If anything like Prom Night (remake) then no. I think some PG-13's can work but given the same company who did this made Prom Night and ruined that, I'm not convinced and no way will I test the theory by renting it. Someone else can see it first, probably will not be very good though. I can live in hope.

I like some PG-13 horror movies. Such as Disturbia and Prom Night, but I don't have a good feeling about this one.

I actually liked Prom Night. So maybe there is a chance of liking Stepfather too.

Wasn't the original?
I don't think PG-13 is an indicator of a bad film per se, but the trailer sure is.
The film is about a crazed step-father, so why is the trailer just a bunch of shots of some scrawny dude soaked in baby oil with his shirt off and a girls ass in a bikini under porno lighting?
And Martyrs didn't make it to theatres....

i love the original stepfather but it was done to death with the two sequels and am not the least bit interested in the remake. i also liked prom night redo, it is not a remake of the original. have done a review of it recently which may take a while appearing on forum understandably with meh's circumstances, but it's watchable enough, no it's not a classic but it's not the worst of it's type.it's far better than April Fool's day ( original & remake), When a stranger calls ( remake) and The Fog ( remake).

Well, coming from the trailer they are trying to make it look like this badass killer movie but now that its PG-13 you know there will be NO payoff. Plus, unless this movie WOWs people you know its going to be shit. But since the guy who directed Prom Night remake is also directing this, and Prom Night was voted in the top 10 worst movies of the year it came out, i have absolutely no hope in this PG-13 remake
