I'm so glad someone else hates Spuffy!
If you're talking about who I think you're talking about, I think the Spuffy hatred is nearly universal.
I don't re-read too many books and I'm surprised that at the moment, I can't think of a one. I'll have to get back to everyone on that. I know I've read Richard Matheson's I Am Legend at least twice, and would like to see a decent screen adaptation. the newest version came so close, but then missed the whole point. So far it seems that the 1964 version of the story, The Last Man On Earth is the closest in concept to the original story.
The Body used to be my favorite Buffy episode, but at the moment I can't think of one reason why I would ever watch it again.
I think the series went 2 seasons too long, but only because Joss Whedon and Tim Minear left the show in Marti Noxon's less then capable hands. The drug metaphor was too heavy handed. Still bad episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer were often superior to good episodes of other television shows. And there were some gems.
A few favorite episodes:
Becoming: Part 2
Graduation Day: Part 1
Graduation Day: Part 2
Once More, With Feeling
Normal Again (I thought this episode would have made a good series finale, though a bit downbeat.)
