Johnny Depp for Tonto is absolutely the wrong choice.
Johnny Depp as Dr. Who could be the right choice, so long as he doesn't bring Sparrow or Wonka to the role.

The BBC is never between Doctors, as they always show him regenerating in the departing actor's last episode. I think it's fine to recast the Doctor for a movie, it would be a stand-alone piece. No story arc. Who to play him? I'd like to see a complete unknown, pretty much what Matt Smith was before being cast in this year's series.
