I think the one I used to get was Weird Tales. The story I remember most was the shapechanger that would turn into a giant rat and kill people. One day he picked on the wrong guy...who turned into a giant cat and killed the rat.

I believe there’s a nice hard bound EC collection
anyone remember a short lived one put out in magazine format the 80’ early 90’s called “Monsters Attack" it was one of the best.

I love horror comics as well. Nice thread Mistress!
Some of my favorites are the Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Leatherface comics. I like Blade too.

I was "persuaded" by my parents at the age of around 16 to relinquish my entire collection of comics (had quite a few "Weird Tales" and "Creepy" that my Nana had received in her thrift store and handed down) and pro wrestling magazines (the really bloody ones from the early 80's!) to the local library or some such.
Ugh. To think I actually bought into the idea that I might really grow up some day and not find these still of amusement.
edit: not to mention their monetary value. Double ugh!

i am 31 and still buy comics, cant see ever not enjoying them.

Hell yes! Some great comics in this post. The 2nd book cover Weird Tales is by the Master of Macabe Bernie Wrightson. Google him. Amazing!
Also Monsters Attack! I remember that as a little kid! WOW. Total flashback seeing that cover.
Love it. I also draw comics so this post is a little dear to my bloody beating heart.

After relinquishing my collection in my teens I pretty much snubbed comics for many a year
(which is kind of absurd considering I always wanted to illustrate one myself LOL)
It wasn't until Glenn Danzig came out with his Verotik line of adult horror themed comics
in the early '90s that my interest in them returned. I'm not a big collector, but I do have most of the Verotik line
and a few other prized possessions.
I now follow quite a few blogs that chronicle horror comics from all over the globe from the late 60s and 70s.
Pretty amazing what was considered acceptable entertainment for children and young adults back in the "before times" LOL

Thanks for bringing back some great memories, Mistress. I collected comics when I was a kid/teen and 2 of my favs, other than the super hero ones were, Creepy & The Witching Hour. And yes, some of the covers on them were so damn cool. Thanks for also posting some of the actual comic covers! Wish I still had them. They would be worth a small fortune now.

agreed that the cover art was a huge attraction- made me decide to knock some dust off the shelves to show the covers of some from my collection.
not many vintage, mostly 80s/early 90s.
there is a comic shop in town with a huge selection of the UNEXPECTED, however he knows what he has and the box is only opened for cash in hand customers
here are a few gems-
newer NOTLD (avatar release) but cover art was too good to pass by

Innovation comics had a nightmare on elm street comic in the 90s that i enjoyed that tied up all the loose ends from the movies that involved Alice , her dream child Jacob , Nancy Thompson & Neil Gordon (the doctor from part 3) .Shame that the art inside was so inconsistent.

If you can find em anywhere snatch 'em up - very cool.
