Topic: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
The trailer for Eli Roth's The Last Exorcism Im not a huge fan of Roth but I gotta say the trailer looks creepy--hopefully the film delivers the creepiness it seems to promise. Plot : When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy. Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus' own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late. _______________________________________________________________________ I gotta say that except for the girl crawling on the ceiling --this looks alot like alleged"actual" possesions that have been documented . And I like the fact that the film portrays an alternative method of "exorcism". rather than a catholic church and priest. check out the trailer. seems alot like a cross between Exorcism of Emily Rose and Patranormal Activity to me. well she looked like maybe she was walking backwards and spinning on her head--so that makes sense and I agree. looks good. Im watching this one. Im a sucker for any paranormal type mockumentaries
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I dunno. Looks kind of Emily Rose-ish. But, in the last couple years I've developed somewhat of an appreciation for Eli Roth (before, I couldn't stand him) so, who knows? I'll call it a maybe.

Would not be a bad thing for me, as I liked Emily Rose. ( Except for the screaming sound level- at 3AM; Vampy does not appreciate her sleep being interrupted suddenly by shrieking girls/women.)
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I liked Emily Rose as well. Jennifer Carpenter blew me away in her possessed scenes.

he grated on my nerves with Cabin Fever.. and it was lazy. flesh eating virus.? >yawn< cabin in the woods.. bloody pieces falling off... no real story line or believable characters. now I admit Hostel wasnt bad. , sure it relied on the torture gore to keep it running, but there was a good story behind it

Heck yeah, one of a few movies that freaked me out a bit in the past few years. I believe I heard she ended up hurting herself (especially her throat/voice) with her over-the-top performances. That's some dedication. I was impressed when I read that.

Best part of cabin fever was the karate kid. On the DVD they have a bit about him. He's rather impressive for his size/age. Hostel I didn't find much better- the plot breaks down after 10 or so kids/people disappear in the same area in a short amount of time. Just doesn't work.
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
This looks creepy, plus I'm a Roth fan so I'm def. looking forwards to seeing it.
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I've warmed up to Hostel. I did actually like Hostel 2, and think it's thus far Roth's best flick. But I didn't and still don't like Cabin Fever. But I've come appreciate Roth himself more. Say what you will about his films but he's a horror filmmaker, and doesn't strive to be anything but a horror filmmaker. No delusions about making mainstream chick flicks or dramas. He's a horror guy, and he helps out other aspiring horror filmmakers, and his director commentaries are always insightful and full of advice. We need more genre filmmakers with that kind of attitude.
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I actually really enjoyed Cabin Fever i thought it was a fun movie. That being said i cannot stand Eli Roth and i hated Hostel with a passion. it was hyped up why too much (by Roth himself!) All i remember is Roth basically plugging himself whenever he got the chance, like he was the greatest thing since sliced bread! I am looking forward to The Last Exorcism just as long as Roth keeps his ego to himself.
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I've planned on checking this out over the weekend, I think it looks pretty creepy and I'm guessing atmosphere and tension will be a big part of the movie since it's PG-13. That's a different direction for Eli Roth, but there are a few decent PG-13 horror movies out there.
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I watched it Wednesday night with some coworkers at a screening. Didn't like it. http://www.horror-movies.ca/horror_reviews_8386.htm
Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
The last exorcism had a chatroulette "webcam interaction" campaign where some guys on a webcam thought they were chatting with a hotchick until she becomes possessed.

Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
I remember chatting with possessed girl that did that. with her ahead spinning and all the talking in tongues and such, I never did get her to take of her top off but I still rubbed one out.

Re: Eli Roth 's :The Last Exorcism
Saw it tonight and didn't really like it. Very unoriginal, tame and for the most part not creepy at all. 4/10
