Topic: Television Series Worth Watching More Than Once

I have to admit, 95% of television these days does not interest me at all. Between the plethora of reality television out there, the slick but substance free shows that stretch one mystery over 100 episodes, and the crappy "talent" shows; there just isn't a lot of solid stories available for people like myself. So I ask you good people of HM.ca, what television shows (past or present) are worth re-watching? I don't want to hear about attention deficit theater like "Family Guy" or light comedy like "30 Rock". I want to know what shows have good, solid, engaging stories worth more than one view.

This summer I had 6 weeks off so I watched the entire series of "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad", "Psych", "Leverage", "Eureka", "Twin Peaks", and currently I am half way through the first season of "Supernatural". A show I have sadly neglected for far too long. But what other great shows may I have missed? (I have seen Lost, American Gothic, and True Blood recently as well).

Let me know what shows you can watch again and again.

a few that i got into are white collar about a former art theif who gets put on the fbi as a consultant in the care of the agent who captured him and lie to me about a lie expert who gets hired by just about anyone to figure out who's lying or not lying. Does anyone know if rubicon and covert affairs are any good as i want to get into both of these series. I almost forgot about my top two favourite shows ncis and ncis los angeles love these shows and never get tired of them.

The Wire had one of the best stories ever on TV. A perfect 5 season arc that wraps up almost everything better than most movies or tv series can. It is definitely in my top 5 shows of all time.

X-files were good for the first couple of seasons , then it went downhill really fast.

Being Human looks worthy of a go. I enjoyed "Spaced", and a couple other BBC series over the years. Also "Durham County" should be added to good Canadian drama series. Of course I have seen "Dexter" since day one. Gave "Hung" a try. but it is boring me already.

"Invasion", has to be one of my favorite tv series. It only ran for one season because the stations put it on at stupid hours. But it has a great story and some awesome aliens.
Another show i like which is a mini series was "The Lost Room". Its a bit over 3 hrs in total, but can be picked up for  like 7 bucks. Its like a odd scifi drama

I watch both those once or twice a year.


And the two series i watch all the time, all Canadians probably know... Trailer Park Boys and Corner Gas

i forgot to mention the glades on A&E it's so funny i look forward to every week. It's about a cop who moves from chicago to a small police force in the florida everglades.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am glad some people read the thread. As I explained, I have zero interest in Family Guy, South Park, The Simpsons... etc. Yeah, they are fine wastes of time and great attention deficit theater for stoners. But I wanted STORY themed shows that have an actual arc and grand scheme. Something with substance, character development and depth, and plots that you have to invest time and energy in. I want mental nutrition, not just pretty brain candy.

Carnivale is pretty good , unreveiling like a stephen King novel like the stand between the forces of good and evil. Sadly the series ended after 2 seasons and the ending might not be satisfactory to some because while it did have some closure after 2 seasons , it also sets the stage for another season which never came.

Of you can try Steven Spielberg's TAKEN sci-fi mini series from a few years back. I think that series actually make me first take notice of Dakota Fanning , she was great.
