Well even if it's a prequel it would be set in the same place under simalar circumstances so I could why they would look similar...hopfully it will leave of right where Carpenders The Thing begins.

same enviroment . same creature. so basically it kills different people ? and there will be more effects ? I hope they at least come up with a good story..
I love Kurt Russell in the original.. something about John Carpenter movies that have either ( or both )Kurt Russell and Donald Pleasance just have a special place in the black pit I call a heart...

I really hope that this turns out to be a great movie.
It has some women in the group though (JC's version had none), so I hope that they are not used to distract the other guys, or are just there for nudity. I hope that their characters are strong and full of purpose.
Also, if any of the characters looks like the guy from the Helicopter in the beginning of JC's movie...then you know that he'll make it.

As much as i love the atmosphere and build up in the first one, im hoping this one has more monsters. I just love the fx in it so much, and with the enhancement of cgi the fx could be even more realistic looking. Overall very high hopes for this one.

It takes place before J.C.'s movie.
It's supposed to show what happened to the Norwegian group that found the ship.

Nnnnnn...not quite, Blood. The first The Thing was based off the novel Who Goes There? but strayed quite a bit. Carpenter's The Thing was a more faithful adaptation of the novel, not a remake of the original.
So this remake is a remake of a revamp.:lol:

Had to scroll down a ways to find this thread... but yea, I'm lovin' the trailer on this, cannot wait! Had to re-watch Carpenters version earlier today, but I watch that a few times a year anyhow. Would love to see the original still, and read the book.

The trailer for the prequel looks great, and for those who watch alot of foreign stuff, many of the actors will look familiar as they have been in a lot of Norwegian genre stuff. I am definitely looking forward to this one.

Caught this trailer last week and, really, it looks a lot like Carpenter's The Thing, except with a female and CGI.
I'm undecided if I want to bother or not.

^You forgot to mention the Swedish dudes Lon, that definitely seperates it from JC's film. I really hope that they go into more detail about how they found and extracted the alien form the ice, something they didn't do in either the original or JC's film.
