I think it's because when you cook your own food, you can be too critical of your own work. It's like a filmmaker watching something he created and being to critical and not liking it. You wokr so hard but then end up over criticizing your work. When someone else makes the food, not only did you not have to do any work, but you can enjoy it for what it is.
